Hi!
Sorry, thread title sort of suggests both stats under potential. I'll explain: I've got some pretty good attack equips (11 ATT Facestompers, 8 att PAC) but both are second tier potential. I cubed them a bit and ended up with 6% all stat (I'm going for all stat as primary, since I have like.. 6 characters) on the shoes and 4% all stat on the cape. Is anyone able to shed some light onto whether or not I'd be better off trying to sell these items and getting higher level items without the extra attack and shooting for more %stat? A guildie said that 1 attack was roughly equal to 1% of primary stat, but I'm not sure that'd always be correct. I don't really know how the formulas were changed since I've been away from Maple.
Long winded thread. I do that, my bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ^_^

see if a friend will let you try on a 12-18% cape/shoe and look and your damage range. if worse, keep your gear. but you wont likely be able to get hold of things that are >12% all, especially for any reasonable kind of budget.

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate the help. If there's a feature to close my own thread I'll try and find it, otherwise, if a moderator is reading this, go ahead and close it. ^^

I can actually give ya a formula to help you calculate which is better:
Let's say you're trying to figure out if 10 att FS with 10% stat or shoes with 0 att but 15% stat is better for you:
Add up all your weapon attack (except for watt on shoes), then add up all of your %stat (except for the one on the shoes):
ex: you have 200 total attack (no shoes) and 50% stat
to see which is better you compare:
The 10att 10% stat FS
(200+10) @@ (50+10)
_______ * ________ = 1.26
200 @@@@@ 50
(had to use @'s as placeholders to make it look a bit better. That first part is 210/200 multiplied with 60/50.
On the other hand the 0 att 15% shoes:
(200+0) @@ (50+15)
_______ * ________ = 1.3
200 @@@@@ 50
so 15% stat > 10 att 10% stat for you, at this moment.
NOTE: i'm ignoring the possibility of the shoes coming with something like... 8 dex or something on em. that can be taken into account as well using the formula below
General formula!
"old stat" refers to however much stat you have on WITHOUT %stat factored in and WITHOUT the new equip that you're trying to compare
"old % stat" refers to how much %stat you have without the new equip
"old watt" refers to your total watt without the new equip.
Multiply these together:
1)(old stat+stat on new equip)/oldstat
2)(old %stat + %stat on new equip)/(old %stat)
3)(old watt + watt on equip)/(old watt)
you'll get something like... 1.3 with one shoe in mind.. but 1.5 with another, then the second shoe is better for you.
((note2: it's usually best to ignore step 1 since it takes long to calculate how much "old stat" you have... and wont make too big of a difference if your gear doesn't have like 15+dex or something on it. ))

The way they work, both WATK and %stat become less contributive towards your net damage increase as you garner more of them. So an easy estimate is to go with whichever you have less (in terms of percentage).
It's pretty easy to figure out their exact values as well, x WATK will increase your damage by x/totalWatk and y% stat will increase your total damage by y/total%.
So 1 atk = 1% stat when you have 100 watk and 100% stats (default) in total.
