Because Shenanigans is the best place I could think of to post this;
Captain Planet Live-Action Movie Takes Pollution Down To Zero Wrote:Captain Planet is back! But the eco-friendly superhero wont be showing up in an animated reboot of the original '90s cartoon. Instead, Cartoon Network and "Transformers" producer Don Murphy and partner Susan Montford's Angry Filmworks are teaming together with "Transformers" producer to make a live action film about the environmentalist hero.
The messages of Captain Planet are even more relevant today, said Stuart Snyder, president and COO of Turner Broadcasting System Inc.s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media division, in a press release. We feel this team can bring the worlds first eco-hero to life in a powerful motion picture that is not only pertinent but entertaining.
Murphy and Montford also expressed their appreciation of the project in the press release.
[Captain Planets] adventures are known worldwide and he is recognized across generations, said Murphy. We expect to make a spectacular series of films with the amazing team at Cartoon Network.
With the earthquakes, tornadoes, melting icebergs and all the other problems threatening the world right now, Earth really needs her greatest defender, added Montford.
The press release did not say when the movie is expected to be released.

Live action films are generally bad news for whatever franchise they decide to touch.
I was not really a fan of captain planet so I don't mind it that much.

I doubt 98% of the people watching this will actually care about the message its suppose to give.

After serious thought, I have only one hope for this movie;
Make Captain Planet say "SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT OR I'LL KICK YOUR ASS"

Maybe if the movie does okay enough, then they'll do a new animated series like they've done with Transformers. I would watch it if it was still supercheesy.

It's a typical Michael Bay film, the action scenes are well done and cool but there are plot holes abound, a non-existant story, loads of merchandising and propaganda for too many things to count.
You also have to wait around 1h30 for the action to begin, so it sucks even at that.

Captain Planet was a fucking shitty cartoon.
It's one of those things that you enjoyed as a kid -because- you were a kid, and kids enjoy tons of shitty things.

Oh, so it's just like the first two movies then.
On-topic: Wasn't expecting a live action movie but I was expecting a reboot of it as soon as I saw that Thundercats was coming back. I would've figured they were up to reviving old cartoons.

Haven't seen the other 2, I went to watch this one only because a friend of mine came to Paris and invited me to the cinema. I wouldn't leave the poor girl alone after she's come from another city to socialize with people (since she's all alone doing her internship there) and I had already ditched her the other days because some other people were in Paris too.
