So spadow retired from the bsns

well the all knowing lord KMS(T) is gone. His info was very good cause he detailed the events.

but now the poor people who frequent websites other than our own, now have lost their all-knowing god of maple. Now who will they blindly follow now that the word of their prophet has fallen silent!?

It was because southperry originally fooled around with private servers, and it was during that onslaught of the mass closing of them. Basil banned the site from the website and left it at that. He still used it, as did his forumer's, I think being the only website to, dependent on the moderator, allow bypass of the filter.

I think there was recently a big thing in the site section about the reasoning, and considering SP no longer dealt with private servers/eos becoming lead, mrbasil really had no argument at that point.

A few months ago, his account got suspended for copyrighted stuff. Guessing it had to do with his non-Maple videos.

He made a new account called MazeMaple since then. Unless something else happened a while back, because I haven't been able to use YouTube since mid-Feburary.

Not sure if we are talking about the same thread, but I had a thread asking to know the reason for the policy on southperry. Well I got a ton of answers from basilers that knew nothing about this site, claiming how southperry supports hacking, private servers etc. Moderators just said that the rule is based on something that had happened ages ago, they couldn't tell what, but admitted that the rule is outdated.

Clearly there was something wrong when they took information from here, but couldn't give credit due to the filter. Same thing in sleepywood, but it seems that "even" SP is more active than SW nowadays.

It technically did, private servers really is nothing but modding which could be hacking. Pretty much basil's underlining purpose was "SP supports something illegal, if it gets on my site, I may suffer consequences as well". Kind of like eos' decision with the funhouse, except his circumstances were a lot more realistic(eos). Bokuwaomer is the one who put it into question in one of the mod meetings if I recall.

it's how the usual thread about SP went, but well, all the mods weren't mods, or even around back then, so none of them knew for certain.

Totally false. They put the censor up because we received the DMCA, and the DMCA had nothing to do with private servers. It was because the "database" we were using was entirely raw data which Nexon didn't like. Basilmarket didn't want to be associated with a website that received a DMCA notice. However, Southperry was (and still is) a good source of information, so they didn't want to outright ban a source of information that many basilers used. So it entered a weird quasi-banned state where it was banned officially but still allowed to be posted.

As a matter of fact, mrbasil was going to begin talking with me about possibly removing the censor last year but then I stepped down, so he wasn't able to speak to me about it.
