Anybody regret getting Final Attack?
#1
I know there's a thread about FA going, but wanted quick opinions from those not bothering to follow it.

I'm a level 64 Fighter, currently saving up SP to put into FA.

But I'm leary of actually doing it. One the one hand, Glitter extra dmg to monsters with no mp cost. On the other hand, Hurt a return to the unstable damage I had before mastery. I mean, I will press the "Power Strike" button, and sometimes it will do 260% of my minimum dmg - and sometimes it will do 510% of my maximum dmg. That's a pretty wide range. If that's not bad enough, I get unstable timing, and inconsistent knockback.
And it can't be turned off. Once I've put SP into FA, I can't go back and say I would rather do less damage but in a more consistent and predictable manner.

And yet... everybody gets FA, and everybody recommends it. Why?
Does anybody regret having done so? Anybody determined that their next Hero won't have it?

(And please no "where else will you put the points?" - if FA is more harm than good, I would rather dump the points into axe mastery or iron body or somewhere they at least won't interfere with my game).

I don't see how it could be more harm than good. First of all, I will use the argument "where will you put all those points?" Dumping them in Axe mastery is useless as all hell, why not take the free damage FA owns up to?

Not only that but you'll be charging orbs pretty slow as a Crusader without FA so have fun charging one at a time waiting for your crappy damage without orbs to go up.

Nope, I'm perfectly happy with my final attack.

Do what you want with yours, I chose to put points into mine.

i think your a little confused about FA it is an extra attack not extra damage added on your original PS if that was the case you would see lvl 6x warriors easily hitting past 8k dmg. for a sader it is crucial as you will charge your orbs up alot faster. No one in their right mind would go FA-less as all the other skills are completely useless and hybrid sader and pally's are comepletely useless considering swords beat the alternate weapons in nearly every aspect sadly =[

You probably don't like it because you're starting to put points into Final Attack at such a high level. At lower levels, Final Attack would have been your best friend.

I'll take the time to point out that FA becomes obsolete once you start spamming Brandish. Your choice isn't entirely to waste. Then again Power Strike and Slash Blast sorta become obsolete too xD

As for me, I don't mind FA's inconsistencies as long as I kill the monsters fast enough. And in the case of bosses, well, that gets a bit tricky, but you generally don't have to worry about FA doing something wrong there.

EDIT: You can counteract FA's inability to KB somewhat by getting a really fast weapon with booster, or getting a normal or slow weapon without booster.

QFT.
plus since you're a fighter, FA will also help you charging your orbs when you become a crusader.

The inconsitency doesn't matter since you're stronger than you would've been otherwise.

I didn't even save up points for FA and it wasn't so bad. Overall you gain damage over time anywhere, most of the time FA hits something and does damage which is helpful. Even at gobies, where you have to time your coma well to get good exp, FAing after a ps which killled the house wasn't enough time to stop my coma from hitting all the gobys.

The inconsitency doesn't end up being a problem because you gain much more than you lose. You may miss some KBs or attack when you weren't expecting it(at least fully expecting it, you get used to FAing pretty often) but you end up doing more damage regardless of it.

For fighters, its essential.

i absolutely do not regret getting FA as a fighter. fa rapes slash blast dps, helps powerstrike dps, and charges your orbs a lot faster. that major con doesnt even compare to the plus of charging faster since coma is such a major source of mob damage.

If there were a single thing to regret about it or something better to put points into, I might. But there isn't, so no.

I have no regrets at all for maxing Final Attack as a fighter. This sweet skill is bound to help me alot in 3rd job (combo attack).

No regrets at all, unless you like charging up combo slowly.

If you want to wait until level 70 to dump all of your points, then go ahead. I do believe in the other thread that it was proven to help charge combo faster and that alone would counter the less damage you do with it. :X

Get it. There isn't a reason not to.

FA activates immediately after your power strike. It doesn't work concurrently with your power strike. I don't see how you would do less damage with FA maxed as opposed to having it not maxed.

Fighters should definitely get Final Attack. I only regret it because I'm a dragon knight and I dont use PS and SB after 3rd job. ._.

Ok. It weakens your slash blast DPS, since the final attack for slash blast is like high on the first 2-3 monsters and pathetically low on the others. I don't regret getting it at all, due to the training grounds we had at the time, and as a fighter, you should get it, due to the faster charge speed of your orbs, as a wk though, it is not reccomend nowdays because the training grounds are much less PS friendly as they were in the older days.
