Potential Archer Changes
#61
Change Snipe to 1 second cooldown.

Many of you might think this is OP, but you don't realise that the server only checks for cooldowns at 5 second intervals. Putting snipe at 1 second, all it does is allow us to TRULY snipe every 5 seconds. Even at 4 seconds (how it is now) if we arent completely on the ball, we can miss the threshold and have to wait up to 9 seconds for a snipe and it is increadably annoying.

I'd rather see them fix the mechanics of cd skills so this pomegranate doesn't happen. If cast times and cooldowns can be accurate to hundredths of a second in other games I don't see why MapleStory's cooldowns have to be so bad.

I think the reason behind that is due to the fact they used to be client side, making it easier for hackers to abuse. Nexon goes to "fix" it and changed it server sided instead with checks every five seconds instead to reduce overloading the servers. It's stupid really.

Why?
I'm sorry but that sounds really unlikely and not-cool. I don't want to go on boss runs and have to hold the down key the entire time.

you don't have to use it, it's strategic, and has a downside to using if you get hit, but a cool positive aspect to it as well. don't be a d-ho. xbowmen and slingers would be the only classes that could attack from prone anyway with the same damage. and let's face it, slingers have enough fun already. you don't HAVE to use the skill if you have the skill.

Oh, here's a thought. They should make Blessing of the Amazon give +10% hp at max level. And I think Jaguar Riding could live with just +15% hp. And Concentrate should have something more interesting added to it besides some extra attack and less mp use. Maybe something along the lines of longer attack reach as well as a 70% stance rate.

BS and countless Pirate skills (also Rush) have client side cooldown that works accurately... it's just a matter of snipe using the cooldown meant for "once every 10 minutes" skills where +-5 seconds doesn't matter.

Though I'm not sure whether the new skill system supports a skill whose time changes every level... maybe that's what stops them. Crusher used to be different speeds at 1-15 and 16-30, now it's one speed for all levels.

I posted on Basil, but..

What do you guys think of a runnning skill, 'Sprint' that allows us to actually run at a pretty high speed as well as jump..
Either that or 'Lunge' which allows us to actually lunge ourselves across distances like a Dawn Warrior's flash jump..
Either included with Lunge or erase that and give us a recoil shot-like skill, like Slingers have..

And lastly, a Mechanic's Rocket Jump.. I was thinking we grab Phoenix/Frostprey's leg as the bird fly's up onto the platform above us Smile
^ This would look not only awesome and make perfect sense and use.. but help out minorly Big Grin

Lemme know wutchu think

thrust with +jump = passive haste.

That's like saying "oh you dont like that you can't move during siege mode? well you don't have to use it if you have it..." If this "prone" thing was to boost DPS then no MM would have a damn choice but to use it.

Doesn't Crusher with a spear now have that slower speed at max (20)? I think they changed the name and the working (allowing for PA), but didn't change the change in speed..

shoot, sorry doublepost.

Dragon Buster is the same speed at all levels. The name was always Dragon Buster; Crusher was one of Nexon America's changes.

Of course, everything has to be within a proper limit. I mean, sure, enhance speed, but don't make it feel better than thieves, that's role-stealing. Stuff like mini flash jumps sound right, but out of character. The eagle thing sounds awesome, though!

And also, what about monster riding mastery? Adding speed and jump to mounts, for example, or a Flash jump when riding one. Makes sense, with wild hunters around, but just enough to not steal their role.

don't use it if you're going to get hit, and can't handle the damage. the siege thing isn't a good comparitive example. you just can't move during it, it doesn't change how attacks damage you. and siege has a CD. going prone and attacking is just a matter of letting off the down button when you don't want to take a hit by standing back up. pretty simple. also a bullseye appearing over the monster that will be autotargeted first would be a cool indicator of it being in use as well, like if you can't see yourself and want to get back up, or to avoid the problem of lagging when letting of of down.
