Dear necessity, mom of inventions...

So I left my phone charger back at home.

What I did?

Googled.


Took an old printer USB cable, cut the side w/o the USB port, got rid of insulation. Took out battery, put black cable with negative terminal of the battery, red cable with positive terminal of the battery, inserted the battery with the cables stuck between the terminals of the battery and the phone.

Connect USB to Laptop
Battery charging
Profit? Can use phone/don't need to buy charger.

Potential repercussions? Probability of pineappleing up the battery.

I've done a lot of cable match-ups (from headphones to speakers, internet cables, lightbulbs etc), but this one I'm surprised it actually works.

Lol I would have never been able to done or even comprehend doing what you did. It seems foolish I understand Chemistry better than you now.

Normally the only problem with doing this kind of trick is getting the right voltage/amperage into your equipment. If the source has the right ones (or the cable includes those black boxes which convert current/voltage) you are good to go.

USB's are pretty good with that. Considering most phones use USB chargers now as well as the traditional wall plugin.

nice man. i myself don't like messing with cables much because... err i blow stuff up on purpose. don't want to do it on accident too
