If someone doesn't care about what he is saying does that mean his words mean anything?

You could watch law and order:SVU for like an hour and realize words mean s'hit most of the time. My dad told me he quit smoking today. Will he follow through? Who knows.

i'd say they do, but not what is being said, kind of when someone lies to save their skin, they say they agree with you, even if they don't, however, their words actually mean "i'll say anything to save my skin"

and not to be an ass or anything, but i doubt it on the smoking part, my dad is a doctor, and has been smoking since god knows when, has tried quitting, but it's too much of an habit, not to mention he starts getting.. "tense" i believe is the word, when he doesn't smoke for too much. same with a friend.

I doubt it too. When he told me the first thing i asked was whether this just happened or if he's been off it for a while. If someone goes telling other people they've quit i believe they should do it when they've already been slightly weened off, not the second they decide to.

He isn't quitting fully for the hell of it either. He found out he's had artery problems in his leg, and it affects his heart, so he's quitting to avoid what might happen in the short term and to extend anything long term. But like i said, i don't really think he will until he's fully off for a significant amount of time. If he starts back up again in the distant future for whatever reason, i won't really blame him either.

hope he gets better then, and who knows, smoking is a passive danger in a way that you don't really care until it's too latebut if something else is threatening you right now, well, more chances to react.

Well, it's kind of the same, except the crimes are not that sick.
I liked SVU until I noticed protagonist often had cheezy lines, forced their acting or something... they pissed me off and I had to stop watching it.

Every now and then it annoys me, but I still watch all the L&O series. How long has it been around now?

20 seasons of L&O. TONS of fun, interesting chapters
Another series, L&O SUV, but who knows for how long that's been on.
There's also a "new" one L&O L.A.
The creator/writer/whatever is the same, they're different series.
