"My Mom’s Having a Baby received an Editor’s Choice award from Booklist in 2005. It was also named a Top Ten Sci-Tech book for Youth. But I’ll be the first to tell you that this is not a book for everyone. I didn’t write it for everyone. I also didn’t write it for children to read by themselves. I wrote it for parents to read with their children.

"I know that some families are reading this book with their children when they are as young as four. Others are reading it with 10-year-old children and still others aren’t reading it at all. And that’s okay. Every parent has not only a right, but also a responsibility, to decide what’s appropriate for their own children to read. But no one parent has the right to decide what other parents can read with their children."

Most people shouldn't be allowed to have kids.
Makes me remember a book I lend to my aunt. It was for my cousin to understand certain things about sex too. I told my aunt that eventhough the topics were for kids, it wasn't meant to be read by kids alone. The book even said it 100 times or so. A week later she was all mad and almost threw the book at my face saying that the book wasn't appropiate for kids and that she didn't knew how to answer my cousin's questions. After I explained her, again, that the book was meant to be read by her and my cousin she said "oh, I don't have the time to check what she reads or to read with her either..."

However, Rose, in that article seems to go one step ahead. She has the time check what their kids read but doesn't feel like spending time with their kids reading. Or doesn't feel ready to answer such questions which is just as bad. That means she's expecting school to teach her son/daughter everything about sex and school's not supposed to do so alone.

Anyway, Pikamemnon: make sure you read that book with your mommy or daddy ^^
