This, definitely. It's the single event, in my opinion, that separates all of what "old MapleStory" was and what "new MapleStory" is, as it was the first of the past few years of crazy, game-changing patches throwing GMS in every random direction until settling down with Big Bang. It's definitely arguable that Potentials/Big Bang was the third major patch section, and thus there are three definitive "ages" of GMS (Beta -> January 2008, January 2008 -> August 2010, August 2010 -> ?), but I honestly believe there are just two, because the game hasn't looked so different since the 4th Job/Leafre patch.
Dusk Wrote:The day CWKPQ came out was pretty great. Saw a lot of familiar names crowding to get in the PQ, and it was pretty crazy because no one had any idea how to beat it and we weren't sure what to expect. I don't even like CWKPQ, it was just a lot of fun with all the chaos going on.
This as well, definitely. Khaini's channels were glitched up immediately, so one of my fondest memories with this patch was logging on the morning after the patch with a bunch of other top Khanians(Sunday morning for North America), right after an emergency SC, to make sure we could get MoNs before randoms glitched up the channels again. We ran 2-3 times before everything was glitched, and I ended up getting the 11 att MoN I'm still using. It was so fun then, too, because the CWKPQ bosses were actually a challenge, and Meteo pinning the bottom three in a corner with ExtremeBeast is something I'll never forget.
Otherwise, I had such a blast in MapleStory summer 2009, when I went from 170-200 before starting college, contributed to tons of HT runs (which were the BEST since everyone at the time knew each other and we'd all be in massive vent/Skype channels/calls), and just general being on Skype/vent with friends 90% of the time I was logged on.
Of course there are plenty more to list if I had time to remember them all, but the only other one that comes to mind at the moment would be becoming the first LOLFP in GMS to solo Zakum, back in March 2009. Getting spammed in all chats, including whispers, and having 4-5 smegas about it was a pretty neat way to finish a 4 hour endurance test.
