You need to max Combat Orders for the +2. It's +1 from 1-19.

I've heard of quite a few Paladins doing that. They will sacrifice two points in each charge and 1 elsewhere (Magic Crash or HP Recovery) in order to get Shield Mastery to 18 so that Combat Orders maxes everything. Remember though, you must have maxed Charged Blow in order to get Advanced Charged Blow.

Take into account Combat Orders does not last as long as other skills do. You don't want to be in the middle of a fight and suddenly you forget about CO and your skills take a dive in power, time rate, and other things. You won't be able to sacrifice 2 points in all non-required skills too. Remember you do have to use 61 points in first job, 121 in second, and 151 in third which won't leave too much -2 on full mastery, if any. Don't rely on CO as a crutch either.

if you take 2 points from each charge and from either shield mastery or magic crush you can max all of your third job skills

you should always have combat orders active if you're killing things, and if it runs out mid combat you'd do the same thing you'd do if a charge or booster ran out, you'd re-cast it...

When Combat Orders expires, only your passive skills immediately change. Active enchantments (Booster, Charges) are only worse if you re-cast them without first casting Combat Orders again. In order to keep your skills as good as possible, all you have to do is recast CO before it expires, just like any other skill.
Following a CO-reliant build, there are enough extra points left over after second and third job that you can fully max things like Mastery anyway.

Charge Blow and HP Boost are the only skills that really need to be maxed - Charge Blow because it's a prereq for Advanced Charge Blow, which cannot be met by CO, and HP Boost because if CO runs out, your HP ends up inverted, and next time you cast CO it actually decreases HP.

Any other 1st-3rd job skill can safely be left at -2 from max, and CO used to max it out. You always want CO active anyway, since it provides a big damage boost all around.

You do want to max CO. You will enjoy it more in 4th job as it takes all 4th job skills over max level. For example, Level 32 Blast.

Ever more importantly, 12 ACB.

Im not a WK/Pally, but Im curious...would Combat Order work on Combat Order? So would 19 Combat Order push your Combat Order to 20, pushing everything else up?

My main question is, what skills do not get put above max? Does combat orders allow all passives and actives, save combat orders, to surpass their max level? Or just certain ones?

All 4th job skills for any job can pass level 30 with Combat Orders.

No 2nd job or 3rd job? Hidden-street lists some skills up to 22, etc. But then, I guess it's not too reliable with Big Bang being this new to Global.

The skill tables were probably taken from Fiel from this site, and he listed them with combat orders incase they would be changed before Tespia is over.

So no 2nd, 3rd. Sorry to ask to be sure, but all 2nd and 3rd still get 2 extra levels from combat orders, and I can safely leave those at 18/28 if I max combat orders?

Edit: Been so long, I forgot there was a section dedicated to this stuff. Found the info myself, thanks. =D

cygnus 3rd job skills are allowed past 30 (theyre basically 1 job ahead would be the reasoning i guess...)
