You in the guild yet CommanderJinn? If not, I'll pester Erich.
By the way, our old.... acquaintance? Trunks (at least I think it's Trunks) here posted a way to improve the Vindictus hosting problems. Do these simple steps to be a very good host <3.
TrunksX:
Requirements: A router, a brain.
*If you already know how to port forward, skip to Step 5*
Step 1: Go to Start > Search/Run and type CMD.
Step 2: Type in ipconfig. Copy down your Default Gateway and your IPv4
Step 3: Open your web browser and put your Default Gateway in the address bar (it may ask for a password, if you don't know it then Google "Default Password [insert router type here]" If the default password doesn't work, then ask your family if they know it. As a last resort, hold down the small reset button on the router with a pen for a minute. Reconnect then try the default password again.)
Step 4: Go to the Application(or similar) tab and find Port Forward(or Port Range Forward).
Step 5: You are going to forward 2 ports. Name them both Vindictus as a reminder of what they're for.
1) Start: 27000
End: 27025
Protocol: TCP
IP Address: Type in your IPv4
2) Start: 47611
End: 47611
Protocol: TCP
IP Address: Do the same as above
Enable them and save.
This will not completely fix the decrease in your hosting performance as time goes on after a maintenance, however this does decrease the lag that results from it. Also, it will not improve your own connection in someone else's party, only everyone else's connection in your own party.
*NOTES: I am reposting this fix (that me and my friends have tried and tested) from a necro'd thread(in a better, more understandable manner) because I think this fix should get a sticky, and stickying a necro'd thread would be in rather poor taste.
I do not know the mechanics of how this actually helps anything at all, nor will I pretend to. If you want to know, ask someone who is educated in this field because you will not receive an answer from me. And if anybody here is educated and does know how this helps, please post an explanation because I'd love to know
