Decent Sharp Eyes For Buccs Post BB
#1
Hey guys,

Kinda quit for a year and a half and recently came back last week. Been reading about potential and trying it out (my cent didn't turn out that well but eh not worrying about it)

Anyways so was thinking about how post BB buccs get a passive 20% critical and I was wondering, coupling that with the critical rings, how much of a bonus boost to our dps would we be seeing if we had a glove with the decent sharp eyes skill on it?

I train with my gf who's a bish and well we could both use sharp eyes I mean especially if we both have passive criticals now but would it be worth the trouble of trying to get one?

Also one more question Tongue since I'm still new to this, So I read you can only get the decent sharp eyes skill if you land it on an item that is revealed to be a unique potential. I was wondering how hard is it to get a unique? I don't really understand the whole business of rare, epic, unique other than unique > epic > rare.

I mean if you reveal a potential and it goes to rare, can you cube it and somehow eventually turn it into a unique? or is it just going to stay rare forever. And if your equip is revealed with 2 lines, will it never be able to go up to 3?

Went a bit off topic but knowing that information would help to see if its worth my time and money to try and get sharp eyes on my gloves Tongue

Thanks in advance all!

Decent Se is not a party buff and I would say it would not be worth the effort.

Base critical chance: 5%
Base critical damage: 20%~50%
Base average damage boost from criticals: (0.05 * (0.2 + 0.5)/2) = 0.0175 = 1.75%

Critical Punch (2nd job): +20% chance, +10% minimum
Critical Ring: +10% chance

Critical chance: 35%
Critical damage: 30%~50%
Average damage boost from criticals: (0.35 * (0.3 + 0.5)/2) = 0.14 = 14%

Decent SE: +15% chance, +20% maximum (not entirely sure on the post-BB stats)
Buffed critical chance: 50%
Buffed critical damage: 30%~70%
Average damage boost from criticals: (0.5 * (0.3+0.7)/2) = 0.25 = 25%

In other words, Decent SE would bring your damage from 114% of its damage without criticals at all to 125% of its damage without criticals at all. 125/114 = 1.0965, so overall it would add a little less than 10% to your overall damage.

It's pretty hard to get unique, but it's also random so some people get lucky and others spend countless cubes to get unique. But once you get unique, it stays unique. The hard part is getting it there; however the good news is once you get it to unique, decent sharp eye skill will be fairly easy to obtain.

And it stays 2 lines if it's revealed that way and the same goes for 3 line, it stays however many lines is there when it's revealed. It will neither increase or decrease in lines as you cube it.

Thanks for the replies guys! thanks for the calculations Dusk

@MrGen, so when you say "But once you get it unique, it stays unique" that means if you get a unique equip and its stats are terrible, and you recube it, it will always recube to a unique? It won't ever go down to rare/epic?

But would an epic recube possibly back down to a rare?

Potential never demotes itself. But the stats can change anywhere from uber bad to uber good in a matter of 1 cube. Which is why cubes are an amazing cash cow.

Yea like Worthyness said, they won't go down after they've gone up. Rare -> Epic -> Unique. The only thing that changes are the stats when you cube and reveal each time. So cube away and hopefully you get resutls where all the lines meet what you want!
