Final Fantasy IX ePSXe 1.7 Problem

So... I'm trying to play FF IX on the PSOne emulator ePSXe 1.7.0
But, when I try to start the game the screen just stays black!
What should I do?

I'm have:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600).
1.5 GB RAM.
Genuine Intel® CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz. Performance Rated at: 2.196 GHz.
Intel® Calistoga Graphics Controller. With: Video RAM 224.0 MB; 3D; Pixel Shader version 2.0.
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC

Why not just get the PSP file from a torrent and put it on a psp instead?

Or at least get a psp emu.

Either way, the game is like 10$ on PSN.

Doesn't matter. His PC is way too weak to run the game properly.
