I swear I'm being trolled by creepers in Minecraft

I go down into my cavern below my house. One minute, I running back up because of creepers. Then, I arm myself to go back down and kill the mofos. They are nowhere to be found. NO WHERE. I CHECKED EVERYWHERE. IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE. I'LL PROBABLY TURN AROUND AND THEY'LL BE LIKE, "WAZZUP? BOOOOM!" His buddy will be like, "NIGGA PLEASE! THAT WAS A BIG ONE. MY TURN WHEN HE COMES BACK DOWN."
