THE LAG
#1
IT BURNS.

It's been going on for at least a week after the patch now, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. It renders playing useless.

This video I took with (lolxfire) pretty much demonstrated the frequency of it and what it is. I have no idea what causes it.

Oh yeah, it only happens when i'm logged in on a character. In the loading screens/logging in/selecting stuff/etc it doesn't do this.

So this is the lag some people are getting....

I hate to say it, but I think this is a personal problem or something. I have not been getting this WHATSOEVER. Ever o_o

It couldn't be a personal problem if multiple people are getting the lag precisely after the game was patched. Obviously the patch had something to do with it. Something that's not your problem isn't automatically a personal problem. Rolleyes

It's just gMS fail... I tried everything but nothing changes... so I stopped playing maple...

All you can do is:
- Quit maple and play other games (works for me...)
- Wait for Big Bang patch and hopefully the 1024 mode gets rid of it...
- Buy a new ultra fast PC and it seems that the lag is a LOT less... but kind of ridiculous for a 2D game with a resolution of 800x600... :/
- Start playing kMS, if you need help, PM me. Smile

From what I can tell, in the process list it shows it going from a cpu of 33/4 (normal)->38->44->08->normal. I don't know why, but when it resets it makes the lag. Why it decks out at 44, who knows.

It lags me too sometimes. Not as much, but it does. Graphics generally go slow and all, especially in some maps.

wow it's that frequent? It happened to me ONCE upon logging in, but never again afterwards. Are you using win7? I'm on Vista, dunno if it's related to that at all.

Not exactly what I meant. I meant it as something YOU have (that I don't) makes this occur. I also have Win7 and I haven't been getting this at all. Nor any lag for that matter. Something in your computer is also in a lot of others' computers.

@Devil: It's not exactly GMS's fail for this to be causing it. If it was, it would happen to a lot more people. I believe it's more of how computers are reacting to the coding GMS has.

Yeah, I agree with this.

I first thought about the video driver causing that, but then.. I saw that MapleStory is considered compatible with Windows Vista and my video driver, and support told me that the driver for Windows Vista is the same as the one for Windows 7.

Now. Yeah, I contacted Intel support. Because, I can't really explain what else could be causing those issues if not the video driver. I mean, map objects flashing and client freezing/crashing because of that.. and yeah, also graphics going slow or general lag, even if not as much as the thread starter's.

They said it was tested with that driver on Windows Vista and it didn't give issues (lol, MapleStory no issues on Vista), and that the driver is the same for Windows 7 so.. yeah.

I asked them if they could test MapleStory on Windows 7 and my same video card (lol), but I highly doubt they will.

So yeah. I always considered the possibility of some kind of software or something conflicting with the client and causing those problems, but I thought of it as a secondary possible reason. Might not be really secondary anymore, now.

The problem now is identifying WHAT's causing that. Not an easy job, not at all.

P.s.: My graphic driver is Intel HD Graphics if anyone was wondering.

Which DirectX version for those that have this lag? You can find out by running "dxdiag" in the run command. If your version is > 9.0c, maybe you can try down grading it to 9.0c, unless you have other games that requires the version installed to play it.

Says DirectX 11. Yeah, you gave me a good idea. I'll try that out.

EDIT: Apparently, it's impossible to downgrade DirectX on Windows 7.

Sorry, my mistake! Its not really down grading DirectX 11, just install DirectX 9.0c along with the current DirectX. Windows allows 2 versions of DirectX installed.

It's something in my hardware. I tried playing on XP, and I get it too. It happens when I play a GMS private server, too.

Did you try kMS yet? It plays sooo smooth here, in contrary of gMS...
