Recommend me some good Modern/Sci-Fi RPGs
#1
The whole medieval setting and whatnot is okay, but I really prefer RPGS that have modern settings like Earthbound or sci-fi settings like Phantasy Star. However, I'm running out of games like this to play. So far I've played through the Mother series, The World Ends With You, FF VII, Live A Live (sorta counts), Phantasy Star 1 2 and 4, and am going through most of the MegaTen franchise.

You guys have any suggestions? I don't care if it's like some indie or RPG2K game so long as it's good y'know?

A role-playing game (RPG) is a broad family of games in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting, or through a process of structured decision-making or character development.

Could try Amnesia if you want to pee in your pants.

About two years ago, I played Scurge: Hive (GBA). It was the first game that popped into my mind when you said Sci-Fi RPG.

I think I only beat 2 bosses. The game was rather fun, but I don't remember why I stopped playing it... maybe it was because I had too much schoolwork and I forgot about it.

By MegaTen you also consider Persona games? If so, Persona 3 (FES, Portable) and 4 are pretty beast. FFVIII is pretty awesome if you want a really confusing story that you'll never understand and will leave you roflcopter what the f'uck just happened.

Valkyrie Profile is kinda medieval and whatnot, but if feels so not like it.

Star Ocean 3 is sorta a mix between the medieval and sci-fi. Starts sci-fi, goes medieval for a bit then returns to sci-fi. I'd recommend that. Rogue Galaxy is based in space as well, although a few of the planets are primitive and could be considered medieval. That one I'd recommend as well.

I haven't finished it, but the Xenosaga/Xenogears games are also very sci-fi. All of these can be played on a PS2.

As far as current gen, I can't help ya. I've been behind for ages and I think I'm ok with that.

I rather liked the Xenosaga series. I mean, it has spaceships and Jesus in the same damn game.
