Assassinate problem...

Just today me and my guildie were in debate on shadower's ability to be effective attacker, my guildie hold firm the idea that no skill for shadower can be effective/damaging in bossing, thus they would be stuck on using BStep and SB.

However, since i had the opportunity to try out shadower in test server (yes official one, i got chosen as tester b4) im convinced that maxed assassinate, without charge up for long time, can out damage both SB and BStep, as well as i have discovered the way to cancel the last hit of assassinate, therefore actually more safe to use in bossing.

Now the question is, does shadower's assassinate have the good damage output at all on bossing? Or shadower really are the "seduce bait only class"?

Regardless of how powerful or skilled you are as a shadower, you'll still be passed over for boss runs without pals. Assassinate charged would be do-able during zak provided you have good priests/bishops in your party, as well as HB if you can't take a body hit (like my filthy unwashed self) - they can keep you healed while you charge it up like they did when we used to drop mesos. I would not try to assassinate any part of HT, personally. Even if it was effective, the speed of our damage is still laughable besides any ranged attacker or high powered warrior.

Assassinates just sucks , honestly. Only place I use it is HT mid head, Pap, grif and manon. And whats wrong w/ being a seducer? hell NL will always take Majority of EXP. Id rather be a seduce/smoke mule

Assassinate is perfectly good and useable in training. I use it myself, and I see no problem with it. Maybe it's just the way you use it. It is my favourite Shadower skill.[/SIZE]

I don't get why shadower's complain so much about single target damage. Assassinate is the BEST single target attack shadower's have, and its a damn strong attack too. Andy was saying in another thread how he bossed a lot, but was usually out damaged. Well his assassinate is lvl 20.

Take a look at w0rmified (yes this is an extreme case). He can do over 40k PER HIT with UNCHARGED assassinate. Give the guy an apple???? He'll almost be spamming max damage per hit.

I always see shadowers spamming SB and complaining that NL's, heros, and BMs out damage them. Well no pumpernickel sherlock, you're using your 2nd job skill against their 4th job skill.

My friend Gunner302 can apple kill a pap in around 10-15 minutes. He's lvl 146. I did a timed run yesterday and killed pap in 26 minutes only using warrior elixers. I did a timed run this morning with one apple and warrior elixer the rest, and went down to 19 minutes. My assassinate is only lvl 4, my boomerang step is lvl 25, and im only lvl 133. I know that once I max it, I should bring down my pap time to 15 mins or less without using an apple at all.

DeiDein, What lvl is ur assassinate? The best way to compare a shadower to other classes, is to have timed boss fights. Please do us a favor (or any shadower with lvl 20+ assassinate), find a griffey/manon in 2 channels both untouched. Then have you and a friend (NL, BM, Hero), at around the same lvl, both try to kill him at the same time, and see who kills it first. Tell us how it goes.




Protip: You can put darksite then assassinate on a macro button, hold it down, and it will cancel the last hit of assassinate for you with darksite. You can easily keep yourself stationary while spamming assassinate by doing this (boss fighting). Using the macro allows for the fastest transfer of darksite -> assassinate. It's almost instant.

I find Assassinate - > Dark sight macro WAY better. Ds>assassinate is just annoying zzzz. Thing's such has having to be perfectly still to use... or if u get hit coming out of DS, it cancels out

Its because it cast's slow, I can attack faster just using bs/sb/etc. its usefull if im waiting for spawn tho and for bossing I guess its good for pap.

BS20 + Assassinate20 still gives a better damage output than BS20 + maxed SB. I've tested it long ways back with headless horseman since it doesn't def. up or anything. You can definitely do it with pap and it'll give you an average but headless horseman is cleaner if you time it.

Only reason why some shadowers say it's horrible is most likely because they don't have assassinate30 :f6: Either that or they aren't ever specific and just leave a bad generalization. Assassinate is great for bosses at levels 10+ (just an estimate) but isn't great for training on mobs. Of course, you have to have timing done right and smoothly otherwise you can't keep consistent damage on the boss.

That video was alright but could be better. If you can ohko a skele, you don't execute an sb and then assassinate it. It just takes too long. (Referring to the last 20 seconds)

yea its good for bossing, its just my style of of playing , I actually just passed assassinate 30 today , so we will see how it goes
