Suppose you're playing a game, and you enjoy said game. Yet the company maintaining that game isn't doing much for the game, such as but not limited to: supporting the game, updating the game at a frequent rate, good customer support, and allowing their customer's voice to be heard. Wouldn't you be upset because the company isn't doing a good job at maintaining the game? Not trying to say they're doing horrible, but they're not doing as good as they should be doing. I understand that the amount of hate in this forum seems to be getting out of hand, and all you're doing is increasing the fire between these two sides. If you don't enjoy the way people are expressing their opinions, which I don't blame you or am with you on the manner, then you should just let it go and let them brawl it out themselves.

I don't have a single issue. And I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate with a quad core 3.6Ghz, 4GB 1600 RAM, and an ATI HD 5870. However I feel for my fellow Maplers and their frustrations of not being able to boss the way they should be bossing.

Stupid logic. Incredibly stupid. I've known tons of people who go log on during certain nights just to boss or level up. Their time is limited and they have well-rounded lives. Now they can't do much because of poorly updated netcode and even more poorly coded client that has obviously not stood the test of time. And does it even ****ing matter whether they are addicted or not? That is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to the coding flaws in this thread. What kind of ****ed up Nexon warrior are you to completely change the subject and try to make your fellow Maplers feel bad for a gaming issue that isn't even their fault?

I understand critisim and it's need at times but whats making me mad is what I stated before. But your comment kinda just made my night thanks.(No sarcasm)

Hoping and praying for something they've pretty much blatantly said is dead is denial.
Hoping and praying for something they've acknowledged will be out "soon" is typical.
Mocking the former while being in the latter is not hypocritical as they're as unrelated as mocking someone for wanting a donut while you beg for steak.

Back on topic...
So it seems Nexon has posted a blog. Oddly it mirrors the text I had sent up by a friend on the forums in the Tech Support section.
Anyways, we all know how things till now have been handled and literally as I predicted, the users are on a near revolt level so Nexon's going to swoop in with candy, cake, and cookies and calm down the masses. My question as I said in the other post. Does the blog promote only propaganda or does it have teeth?
I'm probably going to take a wild shot in the dark guess but Nexon probably could fix this fairly easily if they chose to.
If anything I've kept track of a majority of the 4 biggest issues regarding MapleStory.
1. The crashes associated with Visual C++ Runtimes.
2. The crashes associated with Hackshield.
3. The crashes associated with... well... disconnecting from the login server.
4. And the unknown crashes we get at bosses.
Oddly enough I dare ask the questions:
What is Nexon using to compile and build releases of the MapleStory client? I know the game is old enough to probably be built using Visual C++ .NET (the original one that was released for Windows XP). Perhaps this is a possible source of the problem. My question to that is, are they still using the same system to compile and build copies of the released clients? If so, they probably should start thinking about updating to Visual C++ .NET 2010 and using a Windows 7 Professional based x64 system. Could this all be some vague problem associated in how the client is built from the source code? What CPU architecture is MapleStory being optimized for? Are all the libraries and headers used in the SDKs up to date? Plus, why has AhnLab not developed and released a x64 based runtime and SDK for their service? If anything they should know a rootkit driver will only work properly for the architecture it's built for. Is this another source of the problem?
Could simple neglect of the software used to build and release the game client be the source of all the problems?
I remembered that a lot of developers had a bad experience using Visual C++ 6.0 on Windows XP after it came out. Could this be yet another Compiler vs. OS conflict?

WolfeSong Wrote:Well at least they are TRYING to help by posting it because honestly..not everyone knows about how to run the compatibility mode..and it says it MAY help reduce game issues. Yes, I am having problems with DC and others as well but I am not going to sit here all day nagging at nexon for not fixing it any sooner. At least they addressed the problem to let players know they are aware of this situation and are most likely looking for solutions.
I wouldn't call this trying to help.
Now, I don't speak their minds, because I don't know them. I'm simply judging by the looks of it that this is merely another public appeasement attempt. Heck, it was even posted on the FORUMS instead of the main website that they've tried oh so goddamned hard to get everyone to check out on a regular basis. Who visits the websites? Supposedly everyone. Who visits their forums? People with problems to be vocal about. Addressing the issue to people who want to hear it, rather than the mass that need it, doesn't seem quite... how do I put it, sincere to me.
We peached and moaned for their public announcement instead of being kept in the dark, and that's exactly what we're getting, I do not complain. I'm just rather feeling antipathic towards their indifference, again, entirely by my critical judgements. Instead of this bullpomegranate, they could, you know, actually be working on it.

Nexon is wishing that the Mapler's don't start a revolution against them in one hand and taking a dump that could choke a monkey in the other hand and seeing which fills up faster.
I don't think they're getting their wish... lotsa people angry... yep...

Is there some trick to making MS able to run on Windows 7? I got a new desktop recently and haven't yet succeeded in getting MS to get past the flash ads they spew before letting you play. It just idles taking up a little bit of RAM. It's a fairly fast computer with a fresh OS install so the problem's obviously with MS...

Stereo, I run it just fine, from the shortcut, though I had to create the shortcut myself. If you don't want to be redirected through a horrible browser to a terrible website, add: GameLaunching to the Target line.
Does it warn you that Maplestory isn't directly compatible?

@Stereo, Are you running MapleStory.exe as Admin? Not from the shortcut be the actual executable. That worked for me when I tried running the shortcut as Admin didn't work on Windows 7.

Thanks, creating a shortcut like that at least let me have an error:
HackShield Update Error : 0x00000003(3)
The website launcher can't find MapleStory at all, every time I run it tries to reinstall it...
And yeah, it gave me the 2 warnings the announcement mentioned.
