This sort of thing floats around way too much, people just have an innate hate for Nexon and generalize about them, were the poeple behind Crimsonwood PQ trying to take all of our money when they designed the area? Not all things Nexon does are to gain profit from us, and actually some of their other games require very little NX, such as Dungeon Fighter Online, unless you play multiple characters who all need avatar sets.
Im the first to complain about Miracle cubes and Vicious Hammers being in the cash shop a lot of the time, but dont generalize about everything they do.

Note I said micromanaged. They are remarkably hands off on most of their other games.

In Maple. Not in all their games. That was the point. You can't judge their other games by how they treat Maple, at all.

Is mabinogi really that fun? I tried it once before but didn't want to spend nx to keep gaining stats lol. I'm assuming that's what you play anyway.

It's fun because you can do whatever you want, don't have to worry in the slightest about screwing up your character because you can put points anywhere and grow at any speed, and you don't need NX to continue to grow because you can rebirth for free every three weeks. I alternate team events, working on skill development, working on funding and various other things.

Most of their other games don't have the same sort of problems Maple does either - There's less hacking, or at least less hacking that directly effects you, the economies are structured differently, the ways you level and grow are less prone to things like KSing and looting due to instantiating dungeons and whatnot.

Is this new? I'd swear fresh out of beta this wasn't the case, and after I failed in competing for breaking a rock that needed some sort of high leveled archery skill I dropped out of the game. I still have some decent names in there so if rebirthing is free now I might give it another chance.

Not exactly new, no, but would you have judged MapleStory by it's Beta release?
You didn't even have all the races yet when it came out of Beta. If you played it before G6 you wouldn't have had even 1/10th of the existing content, features and functionality it has now at G11.

I think it was more that I was tired of point and click type MMOs and the prospect of paying for it at the time didn't seem worth it. Knowing this I might log-in again to see if there's a way to augment myself to all the changes to give it a chance, but even then, the style of gameplay may turn me off again over time.
As for judging MS at the end of beta, you are correct. I personally found it a better, simpler game at the time (granted it was 3 months after beta for me). Playing each class to test the waters then deciding my second job based on the element of the recent/soon to come 3rd job. True we didn't even know about 4th job, true we had to stand in place to heal ourselves, true there were no real bosses or challenges, but everything was even simple. I suppose I'm not terribly social to begin with since I've never had the desire to join high end bossing groups or become someone influential or rich in MS, but that is a playing style. If I was to jump into MS for the first time now, I most likely wouldn't stay. It is the blasted attachment to the time I've spent and unique premise of the game that has kept me here and nothing else.
Anyway, we are diverging from the topic of the thread, so let's end this here. Once again, I ask, did anyone receive any sort of in game notice in Pop-tag to show that they had won anything? I realize that the winners will receive the price 1-2 weeks after the fact, but not even informing the winners seems kind of stupid.

they can't notify at the close of event because they don't actually pick them immediately, they have to research the accounts for histories of abuse before they declare them winners.

Oh hah when i started you had to pay for rebirth. Thanks for letting me know. I guess the game has changed a lot. free rebirth every 3 weeks is nice.
