I realize there's already a vidyagames recommendations thread, but this is a bit more specific of a request.
I'm too cheap / busy to buy consoles/games or even the hardware necessary to pirate them, so I've just been watching playthroughs on YouTube.
Are there any games that I just absolutely have to experience in one way or another? So far I've gotten through Bioshock 2, L4D2 and SC2 (I'm seeing a pattern here), and I'm about 5 hours into Halo 2 (..okay I seriously didn't notice this until I typed this out). Bioshock in particular was freaking amazing to watch.

So you mainly love FPS, and look out for graphics?
If you like Halo 2, you'll like Halo 3 and Halo: ODST though ODST doesn't really add anything new; it's just more challenging to stay alive because you're not a superman here. For example, when the Hunters first appeared somewhere around the 3rd or 4th mission, my cousin actually had trouble defeating them although he's good enough to clear through at least half of Halo 3 solo on Legendary. On a side note, Halo: Reach is almost done I think?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 and 2 are fairly good.
I never really liked FPS games, so I'm not really of much help.

I'll PM you a few sites. PS2 emulators are generally bad overall, though. You'd be better off just modding a PS2 to play ROMs ported to DVD-RWs, but neh, I'll see what I can do.

I wasn't even really thinking in terms of pure FPS games, but now that I think it, I suppose FPSs do lend themselves to a movie-like viewable format.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I did watch COD: MW2 (again with the 2s.. this is kind of amusing).
I will check out Tales of Symphonia because of everything I keep hearing about it; it's supposed to be awesome. I'm not 100% sure RPG-type games will be that fun to watch, though, especially since I get extremely annoyed when whoever I'm watching is making the wrong choices..

I personally really, really love RPGs. The one RPG I think will be very nice to play would be FFXIII. It seems to be more challenging than usual...hmm.

Oh god, don't "watch" ff13. Especially not from the beginning. It was one of the most boring crap I've ever seen with the dialogue being bad, character development being bad and gameplay was pretty much doing the same thing over and over. Just all around bad.
I'll hold out on judging the later gameplay because that's different tastes, but my god, watching the beginning was horrible.
I'd recommend Nier as a watching RPG mostly due to it having a great main story, but semi-repetitive side quests. If you can bare with the excruciatingly bad looking protagonist lol.
And how are you "watching" these games? A full playthrough or just skipping to the cinematic scenes?

I watched all the FFXIII cutscenes online, from the opening to the ending...and I still find it pretty okay. If you think it's boring, you haven't seen the most excruciatingly terrible stories out there.
