Nexon Wrote:Global MapleStory is really the story of two teams: the development team in Seoul, Korea, and the publisher/operations team in Los Angeles, California. To celebrate the fifth anniversary, we’re doing a retrospective from both Los Angeles, and Seoul.

Quote:CM: You were a Game Master?!

MK: As part of my tasks initially, I did patrol the servers. I played good cop / bad cop between Stoveboy and CountSpatula. Mwahahahahaha!

Interesting, I never knew he was Stoveboy.

lol @ first comment made under there posts.

Quote:Lol @ the comment about how loyal all of the players are...

Truth is 90% of the players hate you guys and are too addicted to do anything about it. <_<

Hime, if you could ask about Ninjas then there shoulda been nothing stopping you from asking about higher level content. Did you... forget? Crying

though i kinda feel bad for bashing them all the time. they work hard, we just want and need more comunication.

Quote:Working at the data center was especially memorable. Data centers are gigantic refrigerators where servers are hosted for all your favorite online services. Ours has biometric hand scans and ridiculous security. Two of my favorite moments were moving 60 servers by myself when we outgrew our server space and freezing for over 24 hours inside the data center during a “patch” on my birthday.

Wow.. they have biometric hand scans at their data centers and Min Kim was able to move 60 servers by himself. :f6:

I've always wondered how their data center was like, but I never thought they would have such a great security. It's almost like FBI. Lol.

Nexon Wrote:Seriously, we actually we go through four stages:

- Stage 1: Brainstorm, collect suggestions and discuss ideas with each other. We also review player feedback about what the players are interested in seeing.
- Stage 2: After we’ve winnowed the ideas down to something manageable, we start the planning process. We determine the difficulty of implementation of the ideas and adjust the concepts as needed. Then we lay out the fine details so designers and programmers can take on the next task.
- Stage 3: Designers and programmers start the physical process of turning ideas into reality. Designers draw up concepts and programmers put together code to create a system to sustain it.
- Stage 4: Once we have a something that looks remotely playable we try it out on a test server. Content goes through many testing phases both day and night to sort out any bugs and glitches.
- Stage 5: Once a piece of content comes out of testing, we patch it into the game and monitor it. While we work hard to minimize any bugs or glitches in content they regrettably sometimes find their way into the game. If we receive notice about a bug we then have to investigate and make a fix for it.
