Hidden-Street cease and desist from Nexon Korea
#21
Nice letter, but it's not written in legalese.

Observation #1:
Saigo Wrote:We, Nexon, the developer of online games such as MapleStory and other massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), learned of the fact that you have been involved in one or more of the following unauthorized activities:

When was the last time a party in a legal letter was referred to in the second person? Most times they establish first and second party identifiers with third party (e.g. Nexon=Party A, You=Party B) "You" is used throughout the entire letter.

Observation #2:
Saigo Wrote:As you may already be aware, we have already begun both criminal and civil proceedings against wrongdoers in Germany, Canada and other jurisdictions around the globe.

Incredibly libelous word, especially in countries with common law where you are innocent before proven guilty. No lawyer with a knowledge of American law would send out a letter like this.

Observation #3:
Saigo Wrote:Sincerely,
The International Legal Affairs Team of Nexon Corporation

Letters are usually signed with the lawyer's name who wrote it on behalf of the organization for record keeping purposes.

I highly question the sincerity of this response.

Oh my, look everyone, Nexon is still being a bunch of shitbags! INCONCEIVABLE!

I have used HS.net for lots of things, and I must say, if something does come of this, I'll be disappointed. D:

Wigum Wrote:No we legitimately did get the cease and desist, so it's not a hs april fools joke. The question is does it apply or is it legit. I don't know the answer to that as of yet.

I'm not sure why they would bother, hidden-street is mostly free press for nexon games, but anywho.

Post or PM me the headers of this alleged C&D and it's easy enough to tell you if it's really from Nexon.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

If this is legit, it's probably due to the advertisement on HS. I have used HS plenty of times(it saved me so much when I was doing my first job advance), I often saw advertisements such as: ''Want to buy cheap mesos?'' ''Learn to hack maplestory!''. Normally, this would be harmless, however, as the TM said: ''I know you have all used HS at least once''. We also all know that Nexon is really ass hurt about stuff like this.

2+2=Nexon

That is my belief though, I could totally be wrong.

Like I said, Nexon is ass hurt about the stuff, who's to say they can't find a ''reason'' to try and attempt to shut them down? After all, I bet people who independently study private servers for the sake of education, not exploiting it, will still get sued(or yelled at) by Nexon. I mean yeah, it's not HS's fault, but the fact is that they're still popping up on a popular site, and helping people with no sense of security get scammed.

I am not saying I support this though, I think it's retarded.

they threaten Fiel for hosting images from gMS, they slam maplesim for that same reason, and now theyre going after hiddenstreet for hosting data and images, as well as an accused P.server? Whats next, suing Sleepywood for name infringement, and Basil for promoting the buying and selling of items outside of the FM/without the purchase of a store?

Too bad they are not actually doing anything wrong as outlined by Nexon's letter.

Nexon really is dumb, or it's just a troll.

Yeah...no

Nexon Korea is aware of the site insoya.com and it's the exact same function as hidden-street.net.
Why would they target some site for a version they don't even control over databases directly related to their own server?

Nexon Korea would be C&D'ing insoya, cafe naver, and all those KMS database sites before touching the GMS ones.

Insoya has also been running since 2004, so go figure.

Seems more like an attempt at an April's Fools joke. Until I see valid evidence to prove otherwise, I'll stick with my current assumptions.

Why would be bother.
I have to say beyond being unprofessional, their legal notices and emails are downright embarrassing. But given the current behavoir of nexon, doesn't really surprise me. Anyway....

Nexon admitting they made a mistake/ being merciful?

I'd definitely would be a Fool of April to believe THAT.
