Hello everyone. So I was wondering, how many of you that still play ms ( I don't ) plan on quiting, what do you play for, do you have any long term goals, how long have you been playing?

the reason I ask this is because, after playing video games for so long, I tend to lose interest in games within minutes and within the first 30 seconds I can usualy judge if a games good or not.

I don't think it'd be an over statement to say that 95% of all the games ever made are horrible for the non handheld consoles and non retro ones.

this year was really my last year playing mmo's. I found them all to be a repeditive bore. the work you put in is never worth the effort and even when you do "get somewhere" the "fun" only lasts a few seconds. maybe I'm too picky. for my ps3 I have very little games . not because I don't have the money to buy them. but because there just arn't many good games for the ps3. I have Metal Gear Solid 4 ( a masterpeice in my opinion ). Armored Core : For Answer , Star Ocean 4 , Soul Calibur 4 and next week Final Fantasy 13.

I'm having a hard time putting my point into words. its sorta like. why bother with mmo's anymore. its usualy " spend 20 min making a character - grind - grind some more - grind alot more - to get to some point thats fun for about a few minutes - grind even more - get to end game and have nothing to do " Its like. you lvl up, get a shinier outfit , some nice animations , thats it. theres no challenge, nothing to sorta make it interesting. and lvling up is made so ridiculous in 90% of mmos. the only two mmo's that I got to max lvl on were Cabal and DNF (arad senki) two games that have arguably little to no grind. and provide somthing fun for max lvled players . ( truley good pvp in DNF ) and ( Nation wars on a grand scale in Cabal ).

in maple what do you get? an overpowered Majin Boo ripoff? and if you lvled fast enough a statue.

this is basicaly a rant, and I understand the aim of the industry is to get you addicted not to make somthing fun. but I can't help be let down.

I plan on going to a college to learn game design in the next 2 years. and I got my own idea for an MMO , ofcourse at the moment average pc's couldn't handle a game I got in my mind. but I was wondering
what would your ideal mmo be like?

since I'm actualy working on a detailed concept for mine I'll only say that in my mmo there won't be any more grinding and I'd put the experience back in EXP, you'd lvl by doing certain tasks, getting through obsticales , etcetera and not by killing mobs for no reason. there will be monsters in the game but they won't give you exp and they won't just be wandering around in open areas .

so back to the questions at hand .

1. what would your ideal mmo be like?
2. what do you think about the nature of mmos ( the repetition and other points I mentioned in my jungled mess of a thread . )

p.s sorry for rambling on and any typos. I'm just really having a hard time getting this thought onto paper .. or text . w.e.

So, do you want us to answer the questions at the beginning, the end, or both? :f6:

Isn't the biggest draw of MMOs the multiplayer aspect? It's odd you didn't mention that at all.

Can you teach me how to judge a 30-hour game in 30 seconds? It'd save me a lot of time.
