10 will only set up false expectations for X-2 and lead you to gouging your own eyes and ears out as your brain tries desperately to flee via any cavity it can find.

Go for 12. It's more MMO-ish than the others have been, but very nice.

X on it's own is very nice. X-2 is obviously meant to have a more light hearted tone, like those Pikachu shorts you see at the beginning of every Pokemon movie before the actual movie starts.

Cons:

Vids might have spoilers.

FFXII has the most boring gameplay style imo. I didn't like the concept of gambits either. The main character is a effeminate, useless person who has no part in the story. The story itself isn't very memorable and full of crap like this:

In FFX, the main character is more memorable but he's as stupid as Vaan from FFXII. I found this story to be far more enjoyable and satisfying, although it might be a little easy save for a few bosses (including this one boss where you gotta watch like 10mins of cutscene if you die f3, you gotta keep your party in Zombie status the whole time). Some cutscenes were also embarrassing to watch, although not nearly as bad as FFXII.

FFX-2 is totally different from FFX, and not as good as FFX. However, it is more of a feel-good game that does have some difficult parts. Getting to 95%+ in this game is very difficult, and all you get for it is a pro "class" and a very touching cutscene. It did take me 200+ hours to achieve though, and 30+ save slots in case I messed up somewhere... and at least two play-throughs are needed.

Pros:

FFXII has many hours of gameplay, and graphics are some of the best you'll ever find for a PS2 generation game. Interesting characters, places to travel to, and Balthier. Good game for lazy people with the gambit system. Imagine the Auto Pots in Maple, but instead of just potting gambits do everything for you.

FFX has one of the saddest stories, but it's a very captivating game. Very colourful, romance, challenges and very interesting and memorable characters. I recommend that you get FFX ~ International though. Extra content, a new "leveling system", and a very difficult metagame boss. Took me like 2 hours to beat, not to mention that it's just as difficult to be able to fight him.

FFX-2 is a feel good game. Definitely the opposite of FFX where most things are positive, and you're free to do whatever you want really. Although you'll miss out on a lot of things if you don't. It's a good followup if you're interested in the aftermath of the events from FFX.

Or play FFXIII, lots of eye candy and Vanille (not her voice). It's very linear like FFX but FFX is the superior game and the best game out of the choices you provided.

My personal ranking: FFX -> FFX-2 -> FFXII

X-2 was a poor attempt to draw girls into the market by bastardizing it into a Barbie's Dress Up Spectacular.

As true as this is, FFX-2 had the best turn-based battle system.

Also I voted 12 because FFX has a shitty story and some of the most annoying characters ever dreamed up (EHEHEHEHE) and X-2 is mostly just dumb. FFXII has some annoying dialogue but overall it's one of the best in the series. No stupid love story.

I personally thought FF4-10 were all superior to FF12. Never played FF11 though.

Edit: Maybe FF5 was kinda sucky after another thought...

IV, VI and VII maybe. IX can burn in a hole.

Now now, ladies, don't get your panties in a bunch.

This thread is merely to suggest me a game to play, not a place for you to turn opinions into bulldozers and squash the shi't out of the poster above you.

Great, that way I can tell final fantasy 4 that it was boring and oh yeah Cecil, Golbez is your brother but he's posessed o0o0o0o. Then I will pull BUTZ aside and tell him he has a stupid name, and then tell Farin that she's the princess' sister, and that their enemy is X-DEATH, the worst named bad guy of all time. Kefka and Zidane can chill though, they're okay. They have nothing on Balthier though.

And Cloud will get depressed for not being invited.

I really don't understand all the hate on FFIX. I think it went back to the roots of what Final Fantasy originally was while incorporating a more in-depth story and some rather interesting characters. Perhaps I'm biased, but I think it was one of the best in the series.

As the only version that could be described as "intentionally cartoonish", no.
It was an attempt to merge FF and King's Quest and some people really despised it because of the severe deviation from the progression FF had been making from 7 -> 8 -> 9 in terms of visual style.

Though I would agree with that, I'm not talking about visuals, but rather gameplay elements. It all seemed much more retro and I liked that about the game, however that's just an opinion. There's no reason to try to claim my opinion as false. =\

*shudders at the word purchase*.

LOL. I have a ModBo 4.0 PS2 mod. chip on order right now, and about every FF game available for PSOne and PS2 on my PC HDD. Zzzz.

They're all really good games. I don't see why the hate for FFX-2, it's really not that bad. I like the time-based battle system, really. It was really new to me the first time I tried it so yeah. :>
They're all amazing in their own right. BUY ALL 3. Big Grin

If you have to pick one, FFX. It's seriously just a must-play in the series...
By the way, go eBay. I also have a copy of FFX-2 on order (hopefully it'll be here tomorrow!) which I managed to pick up for only $7 bucks and hardly used. See.

EDIT: FFIX sucked. Period.
IF you're going off their previous games which were all short of amazing.
FFVIII is where it's at. Smile
