Getting the Japanese demo from a friend of mine at the moment, has anybody played it yet? Looks really promising.

Not sure if you can play as ANY characters, but it seems like it. Can't wait to play as Kite!

Small review so far:
You start out as this new .hack// protagonist who looks like Tai from Digimon Adventure 01. You're with Kite, travelling through an area that looks sorta like a ruin, and you're constantly attacking monsters. There are small tutorials along the way that are required, and it'll tell you when to tap certain buttons, like CIRCLE for attack, and TRIANGLE for unisons, etc. Unisons are awesome in this game, as they require pretty nicely timed inputs for the combos to work well. They did an extremely great job with this game's demo, and I assume it would be released in NA around early May through late June of this year.
After the demo's done, there are what seems to be '3' missions, and you can take some already-unlocked characters to go with you, choices I've seen: Tsukasa + Haseo. I prefer Tsukasa, just because he heals.

Sounds good, I might have made a post about it in the past. That, and i'm a huge .hack junkee right now. lol.
On a side note, I still want CC2 to rot in hell for making this the last game. Just dropping a 10 year project that made them tons of money (and the only reason they didn't go bankrupt) in a fairly un-spectacular game. Eh.
