thorn + SE = o.O
#1
so seems like thorn = active normal crit (archer's 1st job) party buff, or just a better SE. just look at the dk at the beginning of the video. he hits 4 crit with SE + thorn on his first hit to 3 monsters and his damage doubled

this is thorn + genesis, his damage tripled with thorn's crit

If Thorns' damage and rate stacked on top of SE, that Dark Knight should be hitting 22ks. My guess is they have independent activation of each other. Otherwise, you wouldn't see so many crit-less anything coming off the Dual Blade.

I could've sworn the skill description said that Sharp Eyes overrides Thorns.

i'm hoping that it basically works like a base crit for those classes without it (warriors, mages, dits, pirates)
that way, it doesn't just replace sharp eyes (if it really does have higher activation / damage)

if it's just better SE that doesn't stack with SE, i would be very sad indeed Sad making a MM as we speak
if it DID stack....that'd just be silly <_< *imagines seeing NLs do 100% crit*

I'm confused at the second video. What exactly is thorns doing to genesis? You can see he has a crit ring.

Well, the description said that at his level of Thorns, it was doing +185% damage, right? Magic normally does 100% damage, so 100+185+10 would mean that he's doing 295% damage on his crits. That's the only way he could hit that high.

But that also kind of... proves that Thorns is doing +250% damage at max instead of +150% like we thought, right? Shall look into this.

The +250% would only apply to Magic in that case. Otherwise, their damage would be even more ridiculous for Fatal Blow. (Well, it is 5% of the time with SE added in it appears).

So how exactly does thorns work? Rather still confused about that.

From the first video, I'm guessing it gives a % chance to activate Thorns' Critical instead of adding more critical rate and damage to existing criticals.

Would that make it stackable with SE? The first video doesn't clarify and gives off a hint that it maybe overrided it.

Presumably, 15% Chance for SE and 35% Chance to Thorns, so combined, it would present 5.25% to "Double Critical", 9.75% Chance to Sharp Eyes, and 29.75% Chance to Thorns.
You can see the Double Critical in effect when he hits 38k Reds, when he other wise throws out ~10~20k-ish criticals? So maybe it does actually add +250% damage? You can see the 38k at around 1:15
