LV166 Evan

SlayerZach Wrote:That's pretty damn strong. Wonderin' if you guys noticed Maple Warrior and Sharp Eyes buffs active, cause those should make a huge difference in damage. a-@

Sharp Eyes would since it stacks with their passive crit, as noted by the fact that the crits are hitting max damage, while the normal damage is sitting around 110k. However, Maple Warrior wouldn't. Assuming they're using Maple Warrior 20 (KMS hasn't had any Gold Box events or HT drop changes in this assumption f3), it really wouldn't have that profound of an effect on damage considering the magic damage formula is so crappy. I'm not going to pull exact figures out for you, but I will say any 4th Job Magician will support the statement that MW, while noticeably boosting damage, doesn't make a "huge difference."

But if you want to give this Evan some credit for strength, look at her level. At Lv. 166, pumping all of your points into Dark Fog would only yield a Lv. 20 skill (2 SP at 160 iirc), and considering increasing the base attack of a spell boosts damage output more than increasing magic attack or INT, she could show off a lot prettier numbers in the next few levels.

750 * 1.35 * 1.1 = 1113.75
620 * 1.5 * 1.25 = 1162.5
600 * 1.5 * 1.25 = 1125

Bahahaha. Fantastic. Regardless, this is with KMST ultimate changes AND Elemental Wands KMS doesn't have, so Evan still reign supreme in AoE damage in Korea.

Yeah that's the problem with Evans; they were designed without EWands in mind. Evans blow Arch Mages out of the water in KMS, but in versions with EWands, the gap really isn't that big at all. Arch Mage ultimates are still stronger and their single targets aren't too far behind.

This. Even in versions without E.Wands, single-target damage output difference is in my opinion not great enough to justify the training v. "bossing" balance for Evans in comparison with AMs. And when we get to the lands of E.Wands, AMs win the bossing category and the training category handily and we all know how I feel about that and what needs to happen.

I think one of my problems with Evans is that I associated them with Arans and that it doesn't really live up to the wonky class preview thing, you know, the Growth Speed (1), Potential (3), Freedom (1), Difficulty (2). Actually, I just looked up the Aran version of that and that thing is enraging, LOL at Growth Speed (1) of Arans.

Anyhow back to topic, both Aran and Evan have (3) on Potential and I'm just not seeing that, I came into the Evan game expecting Hero-like DPM and Hero-like training. I assess the skills and see that Evan are likely above everyone except AM in training and adjust expectations of DPM downward appropriately, then Aran is shown to have approximately the same or slightly sub-Hero DPM and I do the math with E.Wands and AMs are still stronger and without, close enough? That leaves me in the same boat as I started, sitting with Buccs, sailing around. I know I QQ all the time about Evans, but those "ratings" deceived me into thinking something that they weren't.

Lastly, I'd bet an Evan trains faster in jobs one through three than an AM and just about anyone else not an Aran...just expressing more rage at that fail ratings system. Growth Speed must be a ranking where 1 is best.

I don't feel like number crunching but, while I'm willing to bet Dark Fog is, in the end, the strongest ultimate, it's not by much when you factor in all the other advantages ArchMages have. Oh, and Dark Fog's cooldown is 20 seconds.

Oops. I read 2x somewhere, but I was too lazy to actually look up the numbers.

There's a damn load of other factors, like Soul Dragon (+20 passive magic attack), Critical Magic (Critical Hits) , Magic Mastery (passive mastery and some passive magic attack), a -3 booster (not -2), Onyx's Blessing (+50 Magic attack, not passive) and etc. I'll throw in Ghost Lettering for the heck of it, too. AMs only have a -2 booster (although negligible since Dark Fog has a 20 second cooldown) and Meditation. Which isn't passive. You could count summons too, though.

Growth Speed has nothing to do with Leveling Speed, it has to do with when you get your Skills. Aran and Evan have their Skills strung out and you dont get them all when you job advance, hence the rating of 1...

Keep in mind that Elemental Wands aren't that cheap and common to start with. They are rare, and if you'll ever find wanted one (Elemental Wand 1, 3, 5 or 7) Most probably that they'll be MTSed for something like, 50knx, which the average player most likely cannot afford.

Actually, I've seen a few lightning wands for 200mil in Khaini. I imagine ice and fire wand to be around 400mil so I don't think that's a price that's too far out of reach for a level 130 archmage. If not 130 then 140, 150, etc. Elemental wands are end game weapons so any magician below 120 shouldn't worry about getting one asap. I grinded to 130 with a maple lama and I knew many others who did as well. Elemental wands are pretty affordable for the average player now.

For an end-game weapon, EWands are actually very cheap. Since they fixed EWands to reduce Holy damage, they have deflated quite a bit. 500m is pretty reasonable for the power boost that these weapons give.

True, but how many of these factors matter with Dark Fog? Evans basically have 65 more MATK than regular Arch Mages with Onyx Blessing, Mastery, and Soul Dragon, but since Evans can't use an Ewand with Dark Fog, that difference is almost negligible. Booster doesn't matter since Dark Fog has a 20 sec cooldown.

Critical Magic is essentially a 1.15x multiplier [ 1 + (0.3*.5)], so:

750 * 1.35 * 1.1 * 1.15 = 1280.75
620 * 1.5 * 1.25 = 1162.5
600 * 1.5 * 1.25 = 1125

That makes a bigger difference in raw damage. Dark Fog's cooldown still makes it crappier, obviously.

would you classify Evan as a red mage class, to use FF terms? its got a botched heal/revive, like clerics, its got fire, ice, and lightning, and its own new dark element, more HP than a regular mage, and its powerful as hell; or would you classify it as a beastmaster type class in that it fights with a fuggin dragon?

Red Mages are a generic combination of both warriors and mages. They can use basic black magic, white magic, and can carry swords, and are neither good or bad at anything. Evans are more like summoners in the Final Fantasy universe.
