So, for Christmas I got my son a wii.... well more for the family but mostly him. Anyways, just wondering about some good games for it. I got him Animal Crossing, Boom Blox, Family Game Night 2, Super Mario Bros II and SSBB.
Also, if any of you guys have one who wants to be muh friend so we can play =)

You've already got some of the best games already. Super Mario Bros. 2 makes for AMAZING multiplayer experiences. SSBB is good for those multiplayer experiences as well. Animal Crossing is by far one of my favorite game series; it NEVER ends and there is always something to do; that kept me entertained for a LONG time. Boom Blox is freaking amazing, I love that game.
I would suggest to get Excite Truck and Excite Bots. Excite Truck is my all time favorite Wii game. Me and my friend can play for hours on Canada Gold: River Run. Crashing...Dying...Troll inside the bridge (just a hole in the bridge that kills you if you go inside)...Great times. Excite Bots is the sequel and requires a little more interaction, and you get to be little robots instead of cars. Robots range from being a bat to being a squid.
Twilight Princess is also a must-get. If you want more multiplayer experiences that are wacky and fun for everyone, I recommend Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. It's so random and so funny!
My brother actually got Wii Sports Resort today for Christmas; I'd recommend that as well. They have a ton of sports on it, and my favorite so far is Frisbee Golf.
That just reminded me that the Wii has a lot of great games...

^The Metroid prime trilogy is one of the best games (well, 3 games) on the system by far.
Mario Kart Wii is almost a must have for multiplayer gaming on the wii.
The Legend of Zelda : Twilight princess is pretty good, and is a wii launch title so you can get it nice and cheap now if you look around.
If your son likes Mario games, Super Paper mario wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Super Mario galaxy is a very good game too.
I'd have to disagree with warioware smooth moves though, Ii've not been able to get anyone to play it for very long, from any age group.
Edit: Since he's 8, fair warning, metroid prime trilogy and twilight princess both carry teen ratings. I don't think theres anything particularlly unsuitable for children, especially in Zelda, but thats up to you.
Oh, and if you don't mind buying download only titles for consoles, there are quite a few older mario games up to buy on the wii shop channel (needs the wii connected to the internet, for simple reasons )

Look up Brawl Plus and fix that up for him. Don't have him growing up playing an inferior version.
It's not even about being competitive, I just think Brawl is too slow and he might lose interest from boredom at some point. Maybe keep that up your sleeve as a future present?

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'll have to check into all these options.
And about the downloading games, I was watching the lil video tut on the wifi and noticed all the old school nintendo games I grew up playing. I think I might have to show him what the real Mario and Luigi are about.

Also, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's very entertaining, especially with many players. The other fun multi-player game, Mario Kart Wii. It's great and has awesome online play.

I AM NOT YOUR YOSHI. Tell me about it.
Mario Kart Wii - Great game for the whole family
Zelda: Twilight Princess - Great game overall
Super Paper Mario - Good, collector-esque game
Excite Trucks - Not the "best" game; it doesn't have a real plot and gets...frustrating, but is a really addicting game none-the-less.
Rock Band - If you don't already have it for another system, a fun game that the whole family can get into
Star Wars: Republic Heroes or Star Wars: Force Unleashed - Star Wars games are good for the Wii, with their lightsaber movements. If you're son is in to that kind of thing, that is. Star Wars: Republic Heroes is a little more kid-oriented, though.
Mario Strikers Charged - Fun when played with multiple people
Mario Party 8 - Another family oriented game
Pretty much what others have said.

Nothing I can suggest that's already in this thread.
Go virtual console up some SNES/N64 games too.

How about the Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers game, i heard it one of the best FF games to come out in a while (of course on a Nintendo console). I got it for my Uncle (and for me to play :O) and instead of the normal FF controls, it uses the Wiimote and you use telekinesis to move stuff and steal money from people...and stuff. a-@

Do not do this. Essentially changing the game he is playing to a different game from what his friends will have is a pit I wouldn't want to dig myself into personally.

Depends on what game you're playing on how you add people . You can add them to your wii message board as a friend, but it doesn't do too much other than let you send messages to each other.

I got the Wii in X-mas 2007, and I cried tears of joy. And this year I only got ONE Wii Game.
ONE.
It was Spongebob Truth or Square.
It's actually quite good.

Thats the thing really with the DS and the Wii. Theres so many pomegranate games for em both that you are almost disheartened to even look for a new game. I know there are some games that are worth it, but ya gotta deal with the bad ones surrounding it. Hell, the first Zelda game fro the Wii, its still 50 bucks at target, and its nearly 2 years old (maybe more).
