For my desktop I have Nod32, which came with the computer, Super Anti-Spyware which I downloaded some time ago, and recently downloadeded Avast! Free edition.
Nod32 has stopped updating because it requires a password, and everytime I start up the computer it keeps asking me if I want to update, where pressing Yes/No just brings up the blipping window again which I can only close with CTRL-ALT-DEL.
Super Anti Spyware is nice, and I know Avast helped me on my laptop.
Now the questions are: Is NOD32 worth keeping on the off chance it's a "load-bearing program", or should I just un-install it?
Since I have Avast, should I keep Super Anti-Spyware?

Either way, you probably should keep a secondary program alongside a main antivirus program just because waiting for a virus scan to finish can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
