Achilles, soul arrow, client/server sided events
#1
I'm not sure if this belongs in the Q&As section or here, but it has to do with the recent patches that once again change damage dealt and shown. In the past I believe damage shown does not correspond to what you actually receive if you have achilles, but this was fixed either this or the previous patch I believe. Now what you see is what you get, but damage on other people will show damage without the achilles innate reduction, only the actual player will see it.

Soul arrow, on the other hand, has for the longest time been proven that the damage you see is only client sided, whereas other people will see different numbers. I tested this out after this patch and for some reason, I see the same damage on different screens even though I'm using diamond arrows. I just can't remember if it used to be like this before they changed it to vary from screens or not. So my question is, is what I and other people see true arrow damage or not, given that I'm using attack arrows.

I thought that with Soul Arrow it was that the S window would display the added damage, but the actual damage wouldn't reflect it.

But then again I also vaguely remember one patch in which this was changed and the damage was shown client side... I don't know anymore. Sorry for not being helpful.

It used to be attack arrows changing damage range but not changing damage dealt and shown while using soul arrow. Several patches ago changed it to also change damage shown but not damage dealt as other people could see from their screens, so I guess it just reverted back to the old system. If you want to test it, find a monster that you can 1-hit about half the time according to damage range, ignoring all criticals and with SE off, and see if you can catch yourself dealing more damage needed to kill the monster with regular attack/hurricane yet have it still survive.

I guess I'll stroll by HHG when I'm bored and see if my damage falls below the minimum range shown with attack arrow on. Or someone else can. :p Thanks~

This was a month ago (Oct 29) but I'm pretty sure the effect is still the same.

Ok I just tested it, so it's basically back to normal and what it used to be. The attack boost from arrows only get displayed in your attack range, nothing more. Numbers you see are true damages. Achilles still an exception to other people.
