One of my best friends died yesterday from viral meningitis. She was 15.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes events come around like this, and the best you can do is try your hardest to make the best of it.

A girl in my high school died last year from meningitis. I didn't know her very well, but she was in my acting class and one day she felt kind of sick with a cold, sneezing a bit and went home early. The next day she passed away in her sleep - everyone was shocked.

I knew meningitis was bad, but dying from it? how? what does it affect so badly that could kill you?

It's an inflammation of your brain membrane. If not treated, it can spread through your central nervous system and cause encephalitis (brain inflammation). Her funeral is tomorrow and I can't even go because I have a huge history test.

You should be exempt from classes if you walk with your school (grief) councellor(s). Unless you don't have one.
