Mastery x Savage Blow discussion
#1
I've plotted on excel all possiblities of going mastery and savage blow with your 50 first points in 2nd job.

The result which came out best was:

30- 1 mastery
31- 3 savage blow
32- 3 savage blow
33- 3 savage blow
34- 1 savage blow 2 mastery
35- 3 savage blow
36- 3 savage blow
37- 3 savage blow
38- 3 savage blow
39- 3 savage blow
40- 3 savage blow
41- 2 savage blow 1 mastery

From then on either max mastery or get a few booster in the process.

Stopping to get booster in the middle of maxing savage blow may or may not be worth it, depending if your difficulty in training is killing each monster faster (say go from 2 to 1 hit to kill) or killing more monsters in less time (same number of hits to kill but faster for each hit).
From personal preference, I'd want my main attack maxed first so I can start one-hitting sooner whatever I should be training on and then go for booster.

You can plug the values on a calculator of yours and see the difference.

So where's the discussion?

Off-topic: What level is SB > stab.

Level 8 for raw damage.

For DPS:
Level 13 if your weapon is speed 2
Level 14 if your weapon is speed 3
Level 18 if your weapon is speed 4

(speeds not counting booster)
Double Stab is cheater that always goes at 600ms. That's why it's so hard to get past it in DPS.

It's not exactly a discussion, more like adding to the dicussion there has been.
Bad title choice I know, damn you Takebacker.

I prefer going Mastery first because Double Stab is a pretty good skill, Savage Blow isn't too great without booster, and going 6 levels without any increase in damage is pretty lame.

Did you do your calculations with monster defense? I remember when I plotted the best route for 120 to 150 on an Archer, Expertise ended up being better than Sharp Eyes once I put defense in.

So once you consider the defense of monsters you'd be fighting around those levels, you might find that mastery is more important than is currently shown.

I don't understand the point of getting 2 Mastery after 10 SB. Aren't you not going to be using 10 SB anyway?

Personally if I was doing a Bandit I'd get 5 Mastery and a bit of Booster for attack speed, then max out SB.

3*1 < 2*2

You have to consider that, at those levels, it's more important to hit high damage on 1 hit than to hit faster since you will be 1 hitting monsters to begin with. Also, savage blow tends to hit more average numbers since it does more hits.

I've added defense to my excel sheet and the results I found still hold true. Getting a bit of mastery at the beggining may be initially better than getting savage blow, but then you will be delaying the great increase in power you get into levels which will be slower to get. It's better to be taking 840ms per monster for 1 savage blow than taking 1200ms per monster for 2 double stabs (or killing a stronger monster in 1 hit of 840ms versus a weaker monster in 1 hit of 600ms).

Booster will only benefit savage blow, so it's pointless to get it before you have a decent level of that.
