A question for office staffs...

Devil's Sunrise Wrote:Guy: Hello, this is from Tele2, are we speaking with [name]?
Me: This is police officer Kristian Gundersen. [name] did sadly die in a car accident two hours ago, but is there anything I could bring to the relatives?
Guy: *click*

Works every time.
Edit: Oh, the opposite way. I must be tired.

This is off topic, but what I do with telemarketers is that I pick up from the phone in my room, and put them on loudspeaker and put the phone back on the hook (only I can hear them, they can't hear me), and take my hand off the phone. Usually they hang up after 2 hellos...

Another way I avoid telemarketers is that when I say the hello the first time, I wait 2 seconds, then I hang up. Usually they have a system that delays them, so it's a sure way to filter them out. They never call back after that... the ones who call back are usually family friends.

On topic:

last week I got a call at work.. and it went like this...

me: hello <my boss' name>'s office, Alice speaking~
the person: (who obviously wasn't listening) Hello Alice~ Do you realise that you are elligible under the Federal government's rebate for roof insulations?
me: oh really?
the person: Yes! The Home Insulation Program provides assistance of up to $1,200 to install ceiling insulation.Or you can get $1,600 rebate for installing a solar hot water system or a $1,000 rebate for installing a heat pump hot water system, to replace an electric storage hot water system. (totally reading off the government website)
me: (getting semi impatient because I was busy with other things) Uh huh?
the person: (continues to read off the government website) But you can only claim one rebate per address, which one would you like?
me: I am sorry, but you have called a politician's office and if we want roof insulation or solar hotwater is up to parliamentry services and our landlord.
the person: I beg your pardon?
me: this is a State Member of Parliament's office.
the person: oh......(swears) *hangs up*
me: ...
