Sleep Paralysis
#21
It's been happening to me lately, and it's not really as exciting as other people's. x.x I open my eyes and I try to move, all the while a voice in my head's like "well, we can't move... maybe if... no, how about... er" and I fall asleep again. The voice in my head isn't irregular, I have voices in my head telling me to do things from time to time.

I heard about these type of things a few years ago, but I never had any of these sleep-related things. I just go to sleep, wake up, etc. and I usually don't even remember my dreams (only happens to me once in a few months).

That guy has the same psychological thing as Felix from FelixTM's neverending story has.

Sleep paralysis is the number one way to invoke something called lucid dreaming. You guys should look into what lucid dreaming is some time and see if you can give it a shot after being in sleep paralysis. It is truly a completely unique and alien experience, but by far one of the coolest events that I have ever experienced.

Oh, and for the record Frozn, this is not unhealthy at all. It isn't literally a natural high, it's your body not fully completing the sleep cycle it needs to go through, which does not release the hormones from your brain to allow you to move your body. It's a completely natural occurrence and people invoke it often so that they are more susceptible to lucid dreaming.

lucid dreaming is when you figure out you are in a dream, right?

If this is anything at all of what I think it is, then yeah I've experienced it before as well. It's not common and it occurs like once a blue moon. I usually hear random voices telling me rather nonsensical things and it always throws me off if it's close to the time I wake up since I get confused between what is real and what isn't.

I think I can recall one time when a voice told me that time was paused and I can go back to sleep for a couple of hours. My alarm clock disagreed.

I've only had true sleep paralysis twice. I'd wake up, eyes open and all, and yet try to move but my arms/legs/etc wouldn't move. The first time freaked me the pineapple out when it happened, the 2nd time not so much. The feeling of knowing your telling your hand to move yet feeling it just sit there its quite unnerving. At any rate, after a few seconds, feels like hours at the time, of freaking out my body realizes i'm awake and starts moving normally again (talk about a feeling of relief yet still freaked out by what just happened).

As per TS I am an insomniac, and I sleep strange hours, heck its 530am and i haven't slept yet. <Thats normal for me

I didn't see this thread and posted what happened to me one night in speakeasy. Now I know what I experienced was sleep paralysis. During my sleep my eyes suddenly opened and I felt complete fear, there were disturbing images playing through my head, dark shadows in the room, then suddenly from my bedroom (I was sleeping in the living room that night because it was hot) a humanoid like creature that was completely orange, with horns protruding from his face and body approached me, sat next to my sofa and just stared at my face and I woke up. Almost a year after I moved to korea and during class I fell asleep with my heads down on the table, and the exact same thing happened, my eyes suddenly opened and I was staring at the bottom of my desk where a smaller, younger version of the same orange humanoid with horns coming out of his cheeks and head was curled up staring at my eyes. I honestly don't like this feeling. I've broken this "trance" once or twice by trying very hard to move my fingers or my hand. Once I was successful in moving a body part, all the fear just went away.

Quote:Usually when people experience sleep paralysis, they usually feel an evil presence in the room. Some will hear voices, some will feel the pressure of demons sitting on them, and others will actually hallucinate shadows in their rooms. Sleep paralysis is also linked to most cases of alien abductions and encounters.

I hear this happens more frequently in mental hospitals, both because you're REALLY hearing voices and seeing things, and because the other lunatics are what you're hearing and seeing. Glitter

Srs add-on: I've never had this happen to me. Sounds weird.

So, as much as I loved having this happen to me before, I really hate it now.

I've been trying to get out of the sleep paralysis cycle, but it just doesn't work. I'm so sleep deprived it's not even funny. It screws with your freaking brain. I'm not completing my sleep cycles, and I've even slept for 10+ hours the past 2 days.

Sleep deprivation SUCKS. I'm starting to hate sleep paralysis, just because of how it makes me function in the day. But I do like all the knowledge I've gained from it. Big Grin

Wow... talk about odd things, this just happened to me today i think...

I went to take a nap, half through it i "woke up" and my mom asked me why i was staring the middle of the bed (i was in her room watching tv before taking the nap) i tell her i saw this black mouse like thing in the middle of the bed watching me, i stood there for like a minute, then went back to sleep...

Might not be the same, hell... i wasn't moving myself... the only thing for sure i was doing is watching and moving my eyes...

And it couldn't be sleepwalking otherwise i wouldn't remember.
