#1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGcetlPbyk

The whole explanation is in the beginning of the video. Basically its just a 2v2 fighting animation, enjoy I guess?

Ya, I really need to slow it down, I guess I was pressured and rushed, so it sorta turned Chaotic.

"Don't formulate excuses for your work"

It's really not bad, but as the others were saying, it moves too fast. That being said, it takes skill to make something move that fast so moving at that speed demonstrates some proficiency in what you do, granted it takes away from the "watchability" of the video.

As for your reply above, I've noticed similar "excuses" from you in previous videos. I'll give you a quote from Goggyfour's analysis of video directing from a year ago:

Quote:Don’t formulate excuses for your work

Again, to echo my thoughts in a previous SW post, it really pisses me off that right as I’m about to watch a movie, someone attempts to explain their work as “I was bored” or “Did it in five minutes.” If you’re not going to present your best effort, then why should I watch your movie? It makes absolutely no sense to exchange a better piece for something far worse merely because someone felt that their integrity would be destroyed if their best movie was too. I’m not saying this really happens at all, but people tend to think this way regardless. Psychologically this is worse for the development of a person than it is in any artistic sense, because it justifies “not going the extra step” as a form of defense mechanism.

There's nothing wrong with making a video that moves way too fast. Making a mistake once allows you to learn from experience and never do it again (least I hope). Just accept the comments and move on and do better next time =P Then again, if this was rushed and not your best effort, Im curious to see what you can REALLY do without a time constraint xD

Sounds like Retalion is speaking heavily from previous experience. I think I'll take his wisdom to heart.

I thought that was common sense for the intelligent man (who is not a stuck up bigot). I mean, failures and mistakes are where the reality really sinks in, and you can really learn what not to do next time. When comparing two business men, one that's fresh out of college with a Masters degree and the other having no education but ran a restaurant for a year before failing, CEOs are more likely to take the latter than the former.

I don't quite understand the Color Wars thing though... both teams are trying to animate at the same time killing each other? o.O

Dunno, I thought it was good, but kinda chaotic. The music could use a little improvement. Other than that, pretty cool.

^^ @Retalion

Why do I have this feeling that your following me?...

Yes, your right I should stop making excuses for my works. If I make something crappy, its my own fault, no matter what the excuse.
And also, You haven't seen what I'm totally capable of yet. I guarantee that.

Also @KajitiSouls

Color Wars is basically a animation tournament. People are put in teams, 2 people are in each time, both people in the team make a animation. Then people judge which team's 2 animations are better.

I remember these from way back on MSF Big Grin

The only thing that really bothered me was your liberal use of teleports and blur.

Nah, Im not following you. I just have a good memory, so Im able to remember quite a few things about quite a few people in terms of what they make. I just watch videos for ideas, concepts, etc. being an artist, musician, etc. I could probably give you details about some of your older works without looking at your youtube account right now that would reinforce your idea of me being a stalker, but then again, I can do that for some other people too. However, I digress, I'll look forward to seeing what you're capable of ^^

Heh, time isn't the same as pressure for me. If I'm under pressure, I panic. I wish I could work on that..

However, I too am a little perplexed with the obsession of really fast battles. Not actually referring to the speed of the video, but that it was a fast paced slam fast of teleports, etc. And this may just be a personal qualm, but I'm tired of all fan-based videos ending in some form of super saiya-jinn. I'm a fan of DBZ too, but it's a horrible example of how fights are done. It was silly and destructive, and that's about as deep as it went.

Your animation is... pretty good. I haven't tried animation myself, but from what I've seen it's alright. Not the best, as there's times when you can see cracking in the animation/pixels. That and the blur was on for too long as it seemed to blur the next image as well.

So really, just work on perfecting the technique and doing extra touch ups. Going the extra mile to make custom sprites will also win over tons of people, as it shows patience and skill, as well as showing that you have a passion for it.

And you'll win me over fast if it's not DBZ/Bleach/Naruto style fighting. That's not saying just fast battles, that's saying battles where one character is godly overpowered among the others, and he just pwns the others, and/or they have to fight him.

It was a rather nice animation, but I agree with the others that it was going far too fast. It is watchable but almost impossible to fully comprehend it. I think the use of skills was wuite nice, could go with some better music, and also, I would just like to know why it is called Color Wars. As of right now, that name makes no sense. Chin
