HurrNewGuy Wrote:His friends don't count, you could hit level 30 and people would congratulate you because they are your friends, it's kinda implied if your friends didn't give a pomegranate, then they aren't much of a friend right? Ok so - friends. Then you got the random level 10's who think 200 is amazing while knowing nothing about it, do you seriously consider a level 10 to be a credible source of congratulatory pride? You shouldn't, so another - there. Then you got the lolBasil users, and the other pile of pomegranate you stir together that grinded "their" ass of for years and got to level 100. If I was to take someone seriously it would be someone who knows how to grind, like the late AzenZagenite, or LolBellardia Ian, Enemy etc; because their opinions count since they know how hard it is grinding without boosts and accomplishing things that took top ranked players x2 and sometimes x3 amount of time. So sorry if I don't take a 11 year old Brazilian playing population seriously when they give me compliments, it kinda goes hand in hand with you`re nothing, so stop talking wouldn't you agree?
So you take out the pomegranate, you take out the friends, you take out the people who don't know a thing, and what are you left with? A few sinsear GJ's! that really don't mean anything because you finished a game during it's easy mode playing days and accomplished nothing while you played during the days it actually took real grinding. Sorry Shawn, you did jack pomegranate. Congrads on 200 for whatever it's worth.
Oh my.
Let us compare this through mathematicians:
A long, long time ago, a person with the name Pytagoras lived in Greece. He was a mathematician. This mathematician noticed something interesting concerning triangles:
In right-angled triangles the square on the side subtending the right angle is equal to the squares on the sides containing the right angle.
Pythagoras has possibly devoted a lot of his lifetime in order to prove this. Nevertheless, he was an amazing mathematician who found out something one now has to learn if you're going to study anything within science. You will most likely agree with this.
But if a single person today do not know about the Pythagorean formula, they would be considered as stupid. Most people will at least state that this person isn't a person able to work themselves through science-courses without working really hard maintaining low grades. Looking on it like that, learning about the Pythagorean formula is not an achievement at all.
This is what you state. Looking at it from this way, that's probably a decent way of thinking: Azen Zagenite or Ian Elliott could possibly be considered as Pythagoras. Shawn could possibly be considered as a medieval guy that just learnt the Pythagorean formula. Compared to Pythagoras, this guy is just a "descendant" doing something already done.
But this comparison has a big flaw: This assumes that both people have the same abilities in maths. In order to elaborate, I'll say the following:
- A 3-year old kid knows how to utilize the Pythagorean formula.
- Her father also knows how to utilize the Pythagorean formula.
For the father of the kid, knowing how to utilize the Pythagorean formula is not an achievement. For the 3-year old kid, knowing how to utilize the Pythagorean formula is an amazing, if not incredibly superb achievement.
But it's not only dependant on age. For maplers, an extreme situation could be compared as the following:
- A guy finished with university has decided to take a year off work, because he has a good amount of money and an economy crisis is going on. Thus he decides to play maple hardcore.
- A boy from a somewhat poor family is going at school. However, he has to work in order to earn up money for future studies and for a game he's playing: MapleStory. He's allowed to play until 10.00 pm on weekdays by his parents, but that's after he's done his homework.
For whom of these would it be a good achievement to get to level 200 in 3 months? For whom of these would it be a good achievement to get to level 200 in a year? The answer should be rather obvious.
Now, this is what you've left out of your posts in this thread, and that's a critical point. For me, it's actually disgusting for me to see people commenting like you did in this thread. It's not different from saying "Shutup kid, you're nothing compared to Einstein" to the 3-year old kid. Humanity is supposed to comment positively on what people do in order to make earth a better place to live, not to to drag people down. In that way, everyone will gain advantages of it. What does one gain when you drag someone down?
If I am mistaken, please feel free to state why you're trying to drag down Shawn like this and brag about others being better than him.
As a tl;dr:
Keep in mind that achievements are
personal, so do not compare achievements in your next post unless intended, please.
