Should I enlarge my pagefile?

I'm a newb at computer specs and frankly don't really understand what a pagefile is (even after looking it up on Wikipedia; go figure). However, I've heard that enlarging the pagefile can increase performance in applications. I've recently started playing The Lord of the Rings Online and would like for it to cooperate with my laptop at its fittest level. I also realize "there's no such thing as a gaming laptop" but I know I could run it better than I do now. My specifications (directly from System Requirements Lab) are. . .

Leave your page file alone, it's fine.

A few things though, make sure you defrag your harddrive, it would increase loading time.

Also graphics drivers might be outdated.

Disabling windows aero theme also increases performance. Go to the default, windows classic theme.

Have as little programs running at the time as possible.

Paging files are basically areas on your hard drive that are being used like RAM (so you basically have more RAM, but its much slower than the real thing). Its not exactly that increasing paging file space will make your computer faster, though. When your computer runs out of RAM + PF it simply cant run anything.

But your PF is set to system managed, which means the system can take as much as it wants. Its fine.


Oh btw, there is such a thing as a gaming laptop. google alienware.

If you game full-screen, Vista automatically disables Aero for you.
