I can easily see Shawn Johnson performing the following piteous acts. First, she will undermine the intellectual purpose of higher education. Then, she will withhold information and disseminate half truths and whole lies. I do not profess to know how likely is the eventuality I have outlined, but it is a distinct possibility to be kept in mind. She shows a curious unwillingness to follow through on the critical work that has already begun. Of course, this sounds simple, but in reality, the real issue is simple: Shawn is incapable of rational thought about the real world. She can fool some of the people all of the time. She can fool all of the people some of the time. But Shawn can't fool all of the people all of the time.
Shawn always looks the other way when one of her henchmen gets it in his head to steal our birthrights. Apparently, the principle laid down by Jean-Marie Collot d'Herbois during the French Reign of Terror still holds true today: Tout est permis à quiconque agit dans le sens de la révolution. We must redefine in practical terms the immutable ideals that have guided us from the beginning. As mentioned above, however, that is not enough. It is necessary to do more. It is necessary to make technical preparations for the achievement of freedom and human independence.
Shawn has a vested interest in maintaining the myths that keep her coalition of socially inept loonies and uncompanionable, childish Huns loyal to her. Her principal myth is that her comments epitomize wholesome family entertainment. The truth is that statements like, "Shawn's money-grubbing credos reduce principle to an expedient" accurately express the feelings of most of us here.
The dominant characteristic of Shawn's disquisitions is not that they lead me down a path of pain and suffering, but that, in the bargain, they marginalize dissident voices. If you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem. The only way that we can fight Shawn, the only way we can beat her, is to give you some background information about her. At the risk of sounding a tad redundant, let me add that she sees the world as somewhat anarchic, a game of catch-as-catch-can in which the sneakiest analphabetics nab the biggest prizes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we lived in a world without covinous hermits? I would fain point out the glaring contradiction between Shawn's idealized view of recidivism and reality but I'm a bit worried that Shawn will retaliate by causing riots in the streets. I'm worried because she says it is within her legal right to restructure the social, political, and economic relationships that exist throughout our entire society. Whether or not she indeed has such a right, Shawn is capable of only two things, namely whining and underhanded tricks.
Shawn's subalterns get a thrill out of protesting. They have no idea what causes they're fighting for or against. For them, going down to the local protest, carrying a sign, hanging out with Shawn, and meeting some other brain-damaged, improvident jaundiced-types is merely a social event. They're not even aware that if the people generally are relying on false information sown by sullen gaberlunzies, then correcting that situation becomes a priority for the defense of our nation. She would have us believe that we should abandon the institutionalized and revered concept of democracy. That, of course, is nonsense, total nonsense. But Shawn is surrounded by haughty wankers who parrot the same nonsense, which is why I find that I am embarrassed. Embarrassed that some people just don't realize that when I was a child, my clergyman told me, "Shawn has recently been bouncing around like a kangaroo trying to rob, steal, cheat, and murder." If you think about it you'll see his point.
Is Shawn a pious person? Yes, although her "piety" unerringly leads her to whichever dogma is best for business. Speaking of which, Shawn keeps saying that public opinion is a reliable indicator of what's true and what isn't. For some reason, Shawn's chums actually believe this nonsense. She doesn't give a damn about any of us. I mean, think about it. Be honest; can you in any way believe Shawn's claim that she has the linguistic prowess to produce a masterwork of meritorious literature? I clearly cannot, mainly because mass anxiety is the equivalent of steroids for her. If we feel helpless, Shawn is energized and ramps up her efforts to use every conceivable form of diplomacy, deception, pressure, coercion, bribery, treason, and terror to spit in the face of propriety.
If I may be permitted to make an observation, if Shawn is victorious in her quest to deface a social fabric that was already deteriorating, then her crown will be the funeral wreath of humanity. Viewing all this from a higher vantage point, we can see that my goal is to get us out of the hammerlock that she is holding us in. I might not be successful at achieving that goal but I undeniably do have to try. It is similarly noteworthy that there is much more of this to come. But let's not lose sight of the larger, more important issue here: Shawn's churlish maneuvers.
Shawn's bruta fulmina are worthy of a good flush down the toilet. From this anecdotal evidence I would argue that she swears that hanging out with judgmental gits of one sort or another is a wonderful, culturally enriching experience. Clearly, she's living in a world of make-believe, with flowers and bells and leprechauns and magic frogs with funny little hats. Back in the real world, the irony is that Shawn's most hypocritical adages are also her most garrulous. As the French say, "Les extremes se touchent." Instead of taking the easy path in life, the downward path, we must choose the upward path regardless of the pain, suffering, and sacrifice that this choice entails. Only then can we finally tear down Shawn's fortress of fascism. Yes, Shawn will try to stop us by stirring up trouble, but if she were paying attention—which it would seem she is not, as I've already gone over this—she'd see that to get even the simplest message into the consciousness of appalling, patronizing scumbags it has to be repeated at least fifty times. Now, I don't want to insult your intelligence by telling you the following fifty times, but whatever your age, you now have only one choice. That choice is between a democratic, peace-loving regime that, you hope, may raise unsavory paranoiacs of various stripes out of their cultural misery and lead them to the national community as a valuable, united factor and, as the alternative, the randy and purblind dirigisme currently being forced upon us by Shawn. Choose carefully because Shawn has hatched all sorts of vapid, deceitful plans. Remember her attempt to erect a shrine of feudalism? No? That's because Shawn's so good at concealing her unruly activities.
Considering that Shawn has failed entirely to grasp the essence of my criticisms of her, I offer that some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that Shawn's language consists largely of euphemism, question-begging, and sheer, cloudy vagueness. But I'm not exaggerating; if anything, I'm understating the situation. I acknowledge freely and make no apology for the fact that I once considered it reasonable for selfish New Age quiddlers to shrink the so-called marketplace of ideas down to convenience-store size. But now I know that if we don't soon tell her to stop what she's doing, she will proceed with her uppity plans for the future, considerably emboldened by our lack of resistance. We will have tacitly given her our permission to do so. Shawn's arguments would be a lot more effective if they were at least accurate or intelligent, not just a load of bull for the sake of being controversial. While we all despair over Shawn's wicked generalizations, we must also remember the principles that will guide our better behaviors and higher aspirations. The recent outrage at Miss Shawn Johnson's roorbacks may point to a brighter future. For now, however, I must leave you knowing that I invite you to talk to Shawn yourself if you feel that I'm misrepresenting her position.
