The new 'standard' I/L build? - Ladon - 2009-03-17

Well, I remeber quite a bit ago there was this whole big thing about wether I/Ls should get slow or not for some reason of which I can't remeber. Anyways, is this the new I/L build most people follow now? Could someone post it for me or direct me to a place where I could view this build? Much appreciated.Wink

-1 teleport
-Max Thunderbolt
-Max Teleport
-11 Cold beam/ Max Meditate (both have their uses at this point, so it's entirely up to you which you choose to get first. Cold beam would be nice for the freezing ability, not meant for damage as Magic Claw is stronger. If you feel the 20 extra magic attack would be more beneficial at this point then go with Meditate instead)
-Max Mp eater
-Max slow

I still suggest maxing cold beam other wise you're screwed in terms of horizontal range/dps. Ice strike sucks until lvl 13+. You can possible trade off some tele and mp eater for slow, but I still recommend getting maxed cold beam.

My build:
1 tele > max cold beam > 15 lightning > 1 mp eater> saved points til late 2X lightning > max medi > max mp eater > max tele

The new 'standard' I/L build? - Stereo - 2009-03-17

I went like that and it was ok ...
1 tele > 30 lightning > 20 tele > 1 mp eater > medi > mp eater

At the main Lightning maps for 30-50 MPEater is useless, Retz have 0 mp Lorangs have 5. I think Clangs bump it up to 10 or something. Not enough for MP eater to get anything back.

The new 'standard' I/L build? - MissingLink - 2009-03-18

My build: skipped meditation entirely and maxed everything else. By the time you reach mid levels, the extra 20 magic attack is hardly noticeable. No, I do not use attack pots to make up the difference.
The new concept builds that skip cold beam entirely are pretty stupid imho.

Phil, the thing is I don't see any training places where I can train my nib I/L with Cold Beam more effectively than Lightning, and that seems to go all the way to at least level 80. Correct me if I'm wrong. I still have time to add CB into my build if it's more than just a little useful.

People still train at Clangs/Lorangs? Magatia mobs are like 3x as mobby and actually have some MP.

Oops, just kidding. I train my I/L on Mutaes, but it seems they don't have any MP either.

"Concept" builds? It's fully doable, you don't need cold beam -at all- in second, and I only got it in third job myself, late 9x, since I had an ice wand and it was only 19 points for a better effect compared to 30 for Comp (which IIRC still doesn't work with elemental wands).

They do if you plan on skipping TSpear, because Comp doesn't work with Ele weapons. And many people skip TSpear due to CL owning the crap out of it.

True. I think people want lit cause it's more useful as a mobbing technique. I used to train at red drakes with CB since lit was so weak. It did like a couple hundred while CB was already hitting like 1k. But yeah, since cpq and all that stuff came out I guess lit would be more effective first, but I would have still done some CB first cause of the freeze effect.

Why does Compo not work with Elemental Wands/Staffs?

Turtally Wrote:Why does CB not work with Elemental Wands/Staffs?

CB works fine. Element Composition, however, does not. Because of this, an ice wand/staff makes CB a stronger attack than comp.

Oh, I meant Compo. >_>

So it doesn't boost the half ice part?

Is it crazy to Do a T-Spear Lvl 70 Lightining wand HH bossing build in 3rd job?Glitter

Personally, I find it useless since Ts is so slow you could probably pull off 1 hit before he ran up to you. Comp on the other hand can land a couple hits and sometimes move him back if you time it right. But then again I don't know what TS damage is like on HH.

Aren't CPQ mobs lit resistant? Or does it still beat out ice even so?

GL hitting him at level 70 o_o

Russt Wrote:Aren't CPQ mobs lit resistant? Or does it still beat out ice even so?

No, lit fails at CPQ. I've got max lit on my 40 I/L, it's lukless and has a few okay equips (15 stat earrings, scrolled yellow umbrella), and it still only does like 300 with lightning I think.

The new 'standard' I/L build? - Dusk - 2009-03-23

Edit: Whoa oops.

The new 'standard' I/L build? - Kabanaw - 2009-03-23

Yeah, I'm just glad I was above the level limit for CPQ when it came out because I did lightning first, back when it was considered a bad idea. And nobody knows why ele weapons don't affect comp, it could be because it would make it more complex (+25% damage to one half, +10% to the other) so they just didn't put it in the code.
