Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - byakugan - 2009-03-10 If this should go in the "Ask the bowman" thread or anywhere else excuse me and close it please Hi everyone. Once again, thanks in advance to anyone that replies to this thread. I have a small question. Recently I decided i should get better shoes for my BM, (right now i am wearing 9 dex dark wing boots), but i am not sure about what i should get. so my question is, what is better? Godly scrolled archer shoes (lets say 15 dex+) or clean facestompers? I don't have money to buy scrolled FS, so I'd have to scroll them myself, and i am not gonna use 30% scrolls so, with the best luck, they would end having +5 dex. I dont really know about MS formulas, so i'm not sure how many dex 1 W. att is equivalent or anything, so well, excuse me if this is a dumb question. I'd appreciate any help. thx
Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Kevin - 2009-03-10 The better shoes are the ones that give you more damage (if you don't care about jump at all), so you can use a damage calculator to check which ones give you the higher range. To get a quick estimate of how much DEX = 1 WA, just divide your total DEX by your total WA. I would go and 30% some above average bowmen shoes since they're cheap in the MTS (my current pair of Arnahs started clean with 8 stats on them) although FS do have much higher resell value. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Retalion - 2009-03-10 At 150 (which is the level Im at now), the formula equates to 5 dex = 1 wep atk. With that being said, the 15 dex/1 str blue arnahs I use is equivalent to 2 atk 5-6 dex (depends on if I can use that str point or not) facestompers. With that in mind, I'll give you the pros and cons: Pros of archer shoes/Cons of facestompers -Speed/jump: You'll get more speed/jump from your archer shoes because having stats on those lines will require you to get more 30's to work. In my example, I have 3 30's on my shoes, meaning 15 jump, 3 speed. A 2 atk 6 dex face stomper will have 10 jump 2 speed or 11 jump 1 speed depending on scrolling. -Price: My 15/1 shoes would sell for 100-150 mill, while 2/6 facestompers will be in the 350-500 range. The price gap is quite substantial and with the given conversion rates of dex/atk, Im fine with using my archer shoes. Pros of facestompers/Cons of archer shoes -Versatility: Facestompers can be used by my sister's hermit if I so choose to do so but my archer shoes cannot, meaning that while the archer shoes are nice for my character, they're exclusive to my character. Should I choose to start another character, I'll have to buy new shoes instead of just moving over my facestompers. -Dex/Atk ratio: As you get more dex, the attack vs. Dex ratio increases. At say 180, it'll be somewhere in the 6-7 dex = 1 atk range. Assuming 7 dex = 1 atk, my shoes will then become 2 atk 2 dex facestompers at best. Alternatively, the facestompers will now become equivalent to roughly 20 dex shoes. 2/6 facestompers are easier to scroll than 20 dex shoes so as you get higher, the facestompers gain effectiveness. With that being said, after weighing the choices, I decided that archer shoes were a better fit for me: I dont level very fast so getting to 180 will take forever if at all. I dont have a tendency to start new characters so the other pro for facestompers is also neglected. The way I have it, I have cheap, but equally effective shoes and have roughly level 15 haste when I train (130 speed, 118 jump). In the end, you factor all that in and make your choice. Hope this helps. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Cyanne - 2009-03-10 If you're not rich enough to chaos facestompers or buy facestompers with over 3 att on them, then normal archer shoes are better. As stated above, you almost always start off with 7 stats, which, depending on your att to dex ratio, is already over half the power boost clean facestompers give, at a tiny fraction of the cost, around 1/200 more specifically. Because of this, you can easily land 30%s on archer shoes, while 30%ing a facestomper isn't really a good idea. Plus, you get a very good boost in jump and a tiny boost in speed, though the downside is that archer shoes are higher-leveled and have lower resale value. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Sn1perJohnE - 2009-03-10 Hell, im happy with my 14 dex Dark Wings, theyre about the same as 2/4 FS and if i were to have bought them pre scrolled, it would have cost easily 100 mil less. But as Stated before, and even in other threads, it comes down to what you get in the end. With my shoes, i get 15 jump and 3 speed, which with my 12 speed bow and the 10 thrust i got, i have 35 speed and 15 jump, so im pretty mobile with em. Now, i was lucky with scrolling these, I landed 3 10%s in a row, and when i tried to make lvl 100 ones to get the lil STR bonus as well, i failed horribly with 30%s, with my best arnah being 14 dex as well, before i blew em up next slot :\ So if your funded the att can be way more, but if your more on a budget, going with the archer shoes is smarter. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Lifis - 2009-03-10 I always thought Facestompers were ugly. Puke-colored shoes, no thanks. Plus I like class-specific equips. Anyway, I enjoy having really well-scrolled archer shoes instead of a "decent" pair of Facestompers. I also like the jump boost, since I rarely party with thieves. Haven't had any luck with chaosing FS, so I can't really be bothered to change for a miniscule damage boost. (I'm using 1 str, 16 dex Arnah shoes with 17 jump. At my level, attack means a lot, so they're about the same as 2atk, 3 dex FS) So yeah, in short, unless you have chaos'd FS, stick with archer shoes. It's cheaper, and better bang for your buck. EDIT: I don't really know prices these days though, but according to a friend, FS inflated a LOT, while arnah shoes still remain dirt cheap. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Hotshot - 2009-03-10 These days facestompers seem like an expensive choice. I made and scrolled mine back when they were new, and I'm very happy with them. If you don't have much to sink cash into, facestompers are a great investment for higher levels since you'll get a bit of a bigger boost out of your 5 dex per levelup with any extra weapon attack you can gain. They're also level 50 and useful for any class but mages, so you don't have to get each character new shoes. Chances are their value is only going to keep increasing, so it's also probably a good investment. If you'll want a set of decent facestompers when you do get to those higher levels, chances are they'll be even more expensive than they are now. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - KaidaTan - 2009-03-10 This is another simple difference of 'Cheap but Good Enough' vs 'Expensive and Possibly Worth it'. FS are almost always better than class shoes, though they will have less jump and speed and other such. But honestly, unless you Chaos the FS to your benefit, FS won't end up much better than 12-15 stat Archer shoes. If you have other things to buy (a HT pendant, a higher attack cape, etc), better to put those things on higher priority. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - cooldog67 - 2009-03-11 to JacKK: at 150 and guessing the gear you have. im pretty sure your dex ratio is 1:6 IMO, FS are a better LONG term investment if you plan on leveling like crazy. also, its just me or 13+ stat shoes are hard to find >.< Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Dusk - 2009-03-11 Facestompers suck unless Chaos'd. Class level 80-100 shoes are much cheaper to scroll. When Maker comes out, FS will be worse in all scenarios unless Chaos'd. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Itay - 2009-03-11 After seeing this thread, I decided to borrow my friends retired NL and use his facestompers. Result 13/1 Arnah < 2/5 FS by 12 max. range. Level 143 btw, forgot base dex and I'm half blooded aswell so yeah. Regular Shoes vs FaceStompers - Zenkat - 2009-03-19 I'd rather use bosshunter greaves than any other shoe for an archer. 100hp > everything for me. So what if they're only 3/5, i prefer survivability. So what if they're only 3/5, i prefer survivability. great argument, but id still like them more common before having them as a shoe. Scrolling them is less feasible than FS, but it can be cheaper, and that 100 hp will forever be best for archers. Again tho, i like the extra jump i get, so unless they are 15 jump, i might still opt for a different shoe. |
