The word "F'aggot" - Greg22 - 2009-02-12 It's a word that many of us use rather freely, but why? F'aggot is a naughty word, used to belittle homosexuals, isn't it? I don't know what else to say, really. I'm more interested in the poll. Might edit this post to add self-criticism/a debatable paragraph. The word "F'aggot" - Katie - 2009-02-12 I use it all the time for shits and giggles. Oh, and LOL @ the poll being censored. Pretty soon every word will be censored. The word "F'aggot" - MetaSeraphim - 2009-02-12 Depends on it's usage. Words will only have power if you give them that power. The word "F'aggot" - Kevin0215 - 2009-02-12 I can honestly say I'm guilty of using the word from time to time, but never in reference of a homosexual. The way I use the word is more of a harmless, playful jest towards a friend or co-worker. I think its a word that's meaning and intention is defined by the user. Never have I used the word towards a homosexual, and yes I do know a few people that are admitted homosexual's. pineapple and pomegranate are pretty much set in stone. Their meanings don't really vary based on the usage. "The word in question", IMO, can be used in a harmless way or be offensive. It just depends on how it's said and to whom it's said. If only I could edit the poll. The word "F'aggot" - ยป-Chris-> - 2009-02-12 I know gay people who use it. =) The word "F'aggot" - Providence - 2009-02-12 It's natural for meanings of words and phrases to change over time. Hell, "fa'ggot" itself has went from meaning "to thread/[to] bundle [of] sticks", to "homosexual man", to "dumbass/loser/[something similar]." Though it depends on the context, I normally find it as offensive as I find "dumbass" (i.e. not at all), and I'm pretty much gay, myself. The word "F'aggot" - chrome - 2009-02-12 If you're offended by it, I say deal with it. A bunch of idiots took a perfectly normal word out of the English language and started using it to belittle a group of people. Same thing with the word "niggardly," which used to mean "cheap," but we all know what it means now. "papaya" is a word that's used in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, specifically where they're carrying papayas of wood on the haunted mountain. Edit: now I know what papaya means. The word "F'aggot" - Thunda - 2009-02-12 It's context. If you're using it jokingly with friends with no intent of harm, it's fine. However, certain trolls like attract attention and use these words, among others; words that don't really belong on a forum like this one end up being used. Southperry is more liberal with language tolerance than most forums; perhaps more than it should be. The word "F'aggot" - KajitiSouls - 2009-02-13
Spoiler
I think most of us who have been exposed to all kinds of words (and rather innocently in some cases) get desensitized to hurtful stuff, and eventually it will all lose meaning. Also, learn to go with the flow. If people everywhere decided that the new miracle stem cell products are called "Nanog", pretty soon Nanog will become the equivalent of replacement organs or whatever. Also AYBABTU was originally an inside joke. (I know this is old) The word "F'aggot" - JezzaRules - 2009-02-13 In my case, I use the word f*g whenever I'm addressing an a**hole. Coz I don't use the a**hole word much, I use the word f*g instead. In my case, its pretty rude.

And if someone honestly thinks using f'ag is to troll, you need to step back and think who would feed that one? Butthurt over a stupid word? Come on. The word "F'aggot" - Laur - 2009-02-13 "papaya"/"papaya" is still quite offensinve despite it's popular usage. The word "F'aggot" - Manda - 2009-02-13 I only use the word when referring to the original poster.
The word "F'aggot" - Dragon - 2009-02-13 Fagot: A bundle of firewood. Dumbass homos and their adopting words.

Dumbass homos and their adopting words. I don't think it's the homosexual people who came up with the word "Faggot" as an insult, rather the homophobes, but I don't know for sure. Also, the meaning is defined by the user and it's intention, for example. If I call the OP a faggot now, it doesn't mean he's gay, faggot in that sense would equal whatever reason you may have to flame him or whatever you think of the OP. Another example is how I sometimes greet my friends, "hi papayas", I'm not implying that they're gay, no, I'm using it in a non offensive way(atleast for me) to greet my friends with, and it doesn't really have a meaning in that sense. The word "F'aggot" - Greg22 - 2009-02-13 RomanceDied Wrote:"papaya"/"papaya" is still quite offensinve despite it's popular usage. funny because YOU SAY IT EVERY GODDAMN DAY |
