Is Nexon making a mistake here? I can imagine what a devils advocate might say though. You could try to make the case that if one of the goals is simplicity then having a smaller number of maps could some how be good?

IMO despite what complaints on other forums say, slow/gradual release = better. We don't need a race to endgame within 2 weeks. Smaller world makes the world feel more densely populated which keeps people going, besides I guess the sweats.

This all becomes moot if they fall into the same vertical scaling pattern that OG/modern fell into, in that there is constant higher level content being released and people forget that the early/middle levels were ever a thing. There are a couple of good video essays on the phenomenon of vertical scaling/power creep vs. horizontal - broadly I agree with the idea.
