How come a site like that posts about a Maple update? Genuinely curious since most of the other articles on there, at a glance, are about more generic business things rather than listing game updates.

It's a press release.
To the site it's no different than "Pepsi announces launch of new product." They take the text provided by the company's press relations department, and publish it as-is.

Ah, it's a press release? That pretty much answers it then. I was just a bit confused by how different it seemed to the other articles but if it's just copy+pasted press then that makes perfect sense. Thanks!
