Dark Magician....the class(and they're not evil!) - Teleline - 2009-01-30
P.S This is written sort of like a guide xD Also, it’s kind of long so bear with me o.o One more thing, I’m not an expert in MS (like what needs balancing, formulas, ect.)
Only goes up to 3rd job advancement till I can think of other things.
Inspiration comes from hearing someone note that there is no Dark magic user in MS because either something went wrong(Grendle and his cursed dolls) or they became evil(e.x Black Magician).
Creating your Character

When you create a character, you'll be asked if you'd wish to make a Dark Magician. Obviously click yes for the sake of continuing here. After you click to log in to your character, the game will pull a Knights of Cygnus, you will get an cut scene. This will basically explain about how the Black Magician came to be. This cut scene is in the form of a book, as the story gets told, the pages flip until it talks about you with your picture and then you will spawn in that exact location(which is in your tutorial house with your tutorial mom). That last page introduces you as a boy named Arthus who will discover something special that makes him different from everyone else.
Tutorial Stage

Once you spawn, the first thing you notice is that this isn’t your character avatar, no, it’s Arthus! Well it is your character but your morphed as Arthus ala Poison Fog PQ. Anyway talk to your mom who gives you a quest to deliver food to a lady near the harbor. Talk to the lady. She’ll tell you a little bit about Oscur(which now you know is the island you are on which is North of Mu lung gardens). Oh yeah I forgot to say, there is no EXP what so ever in this tutorial(you’ll find out why when it ends).
After you finish that, you run another delivery to the elder who will tell you about the cave he guards. Now that you’ve finished your chores, it’s time for you to go fishing, yes fishing! Speak with Mr. Snapper and you’ll go out to sea. While fishing, you’ll be told to look out for flyflys, your first enemy as a dark magician. When the first wave comes, you’ll be told how to attack. Beat 4 waves and you win. Each flyfly only has 2 hp, you’ll punch them for 1 hp a punch. Once that’s over, head back home and you’ll automatically begin another quest.
You have to be careful, avoid the lights(there will cause you to start over) until you reach the cave. Once inside, do a small and easy jump quest and touch the crystal. Blue text will say Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!, because we the guy/girl in front of the screen all knew something was gonna go wrong. You respawn in town and the elder will be angry with you. Guess what? Your going to be banished from the island for fear that you will become like the Black Magician! Now before you leave, you’ll be stopped by a monster, prepare for your first boss fight!:
Spritros
Hp: 300
No Exp
Spritros is basically a larger “Black magician’s disciple” but with arms and legs. He will manly use projectiles which can easily be avoided but take 33% of your HP. But should we call this a complete boss fight? After it takes a few punches, you will perform some weird holy attack which instant Kos Spritros. With that settled, your given an apology but must still leave.

And another cut scene with the book! This time, it explains what happens to Arthus afterwards, how he mastered dark magic but used it for good, against the Black Magician. This was due to something special inside of him which still isn’t revealed.
Life as a Magician(1st Job)

Now you spawn in Grendle the Really Old’s house, your out of tutorial! Remember not getting exp from quests(btw they stay in your quest log)?, well here’s why, your lv15!(Don’t worry Mp hoes, you have the estimated MP of a lv15 magician who tries to max increase max MP). It’s Basically time for you to explore the world, but first a few hunting quests or you won’t be able to leave Ellina.
BTW, as a Dark magician, you will be given some exclusive quests, but not as much as the Cygnus. Anyway here’s the only change the Dark Magician has to it’s skills:
- Magic Bolt and Magic Claw look shadowy, they are also dark elemental.

You’ve reached lv30, grats! Now head back to Grendle the really old who will not send you to the magican’s tree to kill Curse eyes and Horny mushrooms for dark mables, instead he will tell you that your really the incarnate of Arthus! That’s why you can use dark magic without corruption or something going wrong. But Grendle himself can’t teach you, so you must find someone who knows the way of dark magic. You speak with Francos, then Alcaster and finally the nightwalker Cygnus instructor who will tell you that you might be able to find something in Oscur. But………..
IT’S IN THE MIDDLE OF TORNADO SEA!!!!!!!!!!! Yes apparently the Gods became angry and crused Oscur, only the one who can solve Tornado sea’s puzzle will reach oscur(BTW, at this time, your world map still shows tornado sea where oscur is suppose to be)

The Actual Advancement

Go back to grendle then jay and grendle again to analyze the Tornado sea mystery. Finally head to Vikin whos always wondered about tornado sea. Now for your “advancement test”(Note, a slighty harder version can be done as a party or solo by other classes later on as Oscur is not so tiny, has quests and monsters!):
Give the map to vikin, now the way this test works is that you must defend the ship against attacking monsters in epic waters(seriously, water spouts, whirlpools and lighting in the background, plus it’s raining!). At the end, you’ll have to beat the boss monster, Unidra:
Unidra
Hp: 20,000
Exp: 1,000
Details:
- Water Spout both hurts you and the ship, plus it tosses you mid air, good news is, Unidra can’t attack for a couple of secs after doing so.
- All of Unidra’s other attacks only target you!
- Drops Unidra orb which will be used for a quest later on.
Once docked, head past the (shadow) of the familiar town and into the cave as The Nightwalker Cygnus instructor told you. Do a slightly harder version of the introduction jump quest and you’ll reach the crystal, touch it and prepare for another cut scene! This time you see Arthus(not you!) Using the Dark Wizards skills. You get the job advancement glow and now you can use the skills you saw too! Not only that but when you exit, the town is restored, plus, tornado sea is no more, Oscur can now be visited anytime without the puzzle!
BTW if you were wondering about “omg too much travel”, the quests for your second job advancement should level you up once.

Outpulse is a wave sent in all directions from the inside of you. In battle, it will hit up to 3 monsters in both directions(left and right). Causes 1.5 times more damage to monsters weak to dark magic(duh..)
Shadow Beam
Master level: 30
At max: Mp -28, Spell power 145, Mastery 60%
The reason it’s the most powerful 2nd job spell is because casting takes slightly longer to cast than Fire arrow. However, this attack is accompanied by long range. Obviously, you get a 1.5 bonus against monsters weak to dark,
Negativity
Master Level: 20
At max: MP -16, Reduces the attacking speed of Monsters for 30secs
Self explanatory. Though I need some feedback, should this have a cool down? If it worked at bosses but had a minor effect?
Energy Field
Master Level: 20
At max, MP - 20%, Enemy takes 25% of the damage they’ve caused against you or your party members.
Yes, this is a buff. Every time any monster attacks you or your party members, they take damage for ΒΌ of their own damage. However, unlike Power guard, it does not reduce the damage you take.

As you leave, you hear a discussion about getting rid of you, how you might be the black magician or one of his minions, so they’re going to summon one of Ariel’s knights, Galas.
So you have a timer of 30mins and must report to Grendle the really old before that time is up. Don’t worry, there are loop holes to help you. Alcaster will give you a free orbis rock scroll. In orbis, there are two. You can either talk to Agatha who will give you a 5min quick ride to vic or Spiruna after getting a rare magic rock from any pixie to warp instantly to Ellina. After speaking with grendle the really old, you get a cut scene with galas coming from the sky. Now your up, 3rd job advancement boss fight!:
Galas
Hp: 600,000
Exp: 9,600
Details:
- First thing you notice is that he has 4 times the HP of Magic transformation or Dances with Balrog.
- Grendle will fight along side you, he will give you bless and meditate and attack with shinning ray, Ice strike or Explosion.
- The main problem with galas is that he can cast genesis but that doesn’t mean instant ko, plus it’s avoidable.
- Galas’ other attacks include charging at you with his sword and a beam attack which can be avoided like Odin king/snack bar’s.

Once you defeat galas, before he disappears, he will transform you into a beast by aggravating your dark energy with a holy spell. In this mode, you can’t cast any spells, instead, you have a slightly stronger claw attack which can be used with the attack key. Every time you enter a town, you will be attack by guard knights which can hurt you but you can’t hurt them because you don’t want to.
Eventually you get a lift from Crimson Balrogs(for some apparent reason) to orbis. As the boat ride goes on, the Balrogs will talk about the Black magician abit. In orbis, avoid the guard knights and head to stairway to the sky, take the center top portal. Here at “Peak that meets the sky”, you will be visited by a spirit whom after a conversation, will restore you to your normal self. Not only that, but you have your 3rd job skill book with 1 skill but no job advancement. Here’s the skill:

- Both Passive and Active, fill the meter then press the hotkey to transfom.
- Beast form ends when your HP reaches 1 or meter empties.
- Has a cooldown.
- You cannot pot in Beast form.
From here the spirit tells you that the alchemists hid Arthus’ skill book somewhere in their libraries. Head to Magatia and find the library which is on the Zenumist side, portal in the map with cube slimes, take out the Homunculus and………profit!…………You advance and your skill book is now full.
And now I don’t know how to continue after this with this class…………But you do get elemental resistance and Amplification.
