What kind of name should I go for? - Obike - 2009-01-28
I've been thinking of changing my name... For many reasons really, but I'm not trying to run away from anything or hide who I am. One of the main reasons is that I like having a unique name, something that no one else has. I try not to copy names I see from anime/TV/movies/other games, I usually come up with names off the top of my head.
Obike for instance was reversed from Ekibo, which was my old sader. The idea of reversal came from an old friend (vGallenv) and I figured since I thought of Ekibo myself, Obike would be unique as well. BZZT! Totally wrong! Both Ekibo and Obike are existing names/ign's on other games/servers/animes!
I found out about them months~years after I created them though.Realizing that Obike was indeed not a unique name, I began considering other names, but I'm not sure of what to go for. What do you guys think? Try to stay on a more serious/unique idea please! My alliance wanted me to change my name to "RentAHero" as a joke, but that name's already taken to nyah.

Despite most being taken, there are still a few single-word IGNs available.
On GMS Bellocan I got the IGNs "Migrant" last February, and found that the name "Migrated" was also available last December (last month).
If you're prepared to spend 30 minutes or so at the character creation screen just looking for names, you can probably find something pretty unique.

lol wow, I posted this on sleepywood and here at the same time... Most people on SW were like "Noooo don't change it!" and here, there's no resistance! Some interesting name suggestions indeed. Though, only Carlos's and Aeosyn's made me lulz irl.
Thank you all for your input, many of them are intriguing afterall, much better than what I had hoped for. Personally I like the idea of having a unique name name for my chars though, so word names like "Migrant" wouldn't work. DrrtySanchez would be awesome, except my guild has a few kids in it, and I'd have a hell of a time explaining the name change to them xD

Uniqueness and availability is hard to come by these days. Most of my character names had something to do with the job:
EverSoSinful - Hermit (in hindsight, that really isn't all that unique)
OhHolyHell - Priest
DazedNDitzy - Bandit
The only one that has nothing to do with the job is my Pally. She actually had a very fail name (olS2lo) and I changed it cause I got tired of people calling me s2 and oslo...I really don't know where I came up with QyteContrary but I liked it and it worked so I went with it.
Since you want a "name" name I'd go to a baby name site and sift through there for a while. You're bound to find something unique.
