Miss-able Quests. - MaplesGrandGM - 2009-01-08

Hi, I was looking through the Quest Kings topic, and some other topics here. I noticed there are plenty of quests that are easily missed, and ways to clear quests that normally only one of the set can be completed, and such.

Now, I myself tend to be a completionist, but that gets really annoying in an MMORPG like MS, where they update things, and make it impossible for people that actually level to go back and do them. I gave up on quests long ago on my main, who is now 158, so I know I missed a lot of quests that I can just never do now. On my more recently mained character, I have the benefit of not missing most of those, but now I missed all those event quests, quests they don't seem to ever want to bring back, such as 2007's Halloween quests, the Best Buy thanksgiving quests, etc.

Eh, anyways, the point of this topic is to try to minimize any further missed quests, but finding out what quests are easily missable, by either leveling, or not dropping an item to do the lost quest. Currently my F/P is only at 2xx quests, having 6x event quests done. So I'm gonna go around and finish up and clear my list on him, and my pirate as I level.

This is the list of quests that I found on Sauna, that require having lost an item.

The Lost Photo Album (Level 30)
The Lost Nependeath Juice
The Lost Sap of Nependeath
The Lost Piece of Crack
The Lost Piece of the VIP Ticket - missing ripped travel ticket 1
The Lost Piece of the VIP Ticket - missing ripped travel ticket 2
The Seed That Swallow Lost
The Storybook on Hongbu and Nolbu (Hongbu)
The Storybook on Hongbu and Nolbu (Nolbu)
The Storybook on the Story of Axes
The Storybook on the Goblin Story
The Lost Medal

I'm not sure which one actually count to your completed quest total, and unfortunately, Sauna hasn't been updated in quite some time. So which of those should I even pay any attention to, and what else is there?

Also, is there any compiled list of miss-able quests, quests that you have to worry about getting done sooner, rather than later, ones that you can't wait till you're level 200 to do.

Here's one that you can miss, easily: The Missing Dropship.

See, if you pick up a note at level 35, you'll get the quest "Lost in The Ocean." However, if you complete this quest at level 35, it makes you ineligible to do "The Missing Dropship" at level 50 for Omega. This wasn't an issue for most of the people at the top of the list, because Omega came out before Aqua, and so we did all the Omega quests when it came out, including the Missing Dropship. Later, when Aqua came out, we did Lost in the Ocean without worry. Unfortunately I forgot this little detail and missed out on "Missing Dropship" in KMS because I did Lost in the Ocean first.

So, moral of this story is: Don't be tempted into doing this quest early, put it off until after you've finished the Missing Dropship.

Crap, could have used that information earlier on my newer account. :[

Thanks for the list. I really could have used a lot of this information a lot earlier. D: I finished all of those quests before I even knew about lost item things, except for The Lost Medal, which I found on the Quest Kings thread. And if I remember correctly, The Missing Communique (right quest title?) is also a "Lost Item" quest.

There's a quest in Showa that requires one to kill Mushmom before level 40 or so. If you level past that and don't do the quest, you can't do it anymore.

Oh wow, I've missed every single quest mentioned in this thread so far D:

Except the level 40- one Big Grin Killing Showa mobs and Mushmom at level 39 was an interesting experience, to say the least...

Yeah, that's why I made this thread. I totally got annoyed a couple years ago, and just flat out stopped doing any quest that didn't give me a glove att scroll, and only did the class specific scroll quests for my sin to collect 10% claw att scrolls. I mean, I hate the fact that there are quests I'll never be able to do on my main, and it's not so much about having a clear list, but I do like having the numbers as well, so a clear list means nothing to me, when I can't do any of the pq based quests, or the Mushmom quest mentioned above...

I'd prefer if they had like... for the PPQ and OPQ, a quest version, which would be the full quest, minus experience and rewards, but lacking a level lock, and allowing us to do all those quests. That would work to for when they put in the grading system for pqs, for us to be able to get the Medal that matches that. When that gets released, that's gonna annoy me to no end.

Hell, I feel they should give us a new item tab for Key Items. Here is where we'd keep our Florina VIP tickets, Ludibrium Medals, and anything else of that nature, including one of kind equips... Eh, that's a different topic.

I would like to see another guide consisting of completely miss-able quests, so that people can look through it and prepare, and like avoid certain quests so that they don't ruin their chance to do another, such as the one Isaac pointed out. Not something I'm entirely interested in doing, but eh. Thanks for the posts so far.

Kinda related question, didn't want to make a new topic: Are there any quests that can't be done depending on the faction you join in Magatia? I've noticed that you can join one of two factions and was just wondering if joining one disabled all the quests for the other faction or only certain quests, etc.

Miss-able Quests. - MaplesGrandGM - 2009-01-17

You can actually join both, get both capes, and just change capes to activate different quests as you go.

Miss-able Quests. - NoJobNoRules - 2009-01-18

Yep. You can have the storyline for Magatia all the way down to who to give the notes to - Alcadno, Zenumist, or the neutral people involved.
