Feeling nostalgic? - iamnotazn - 2013-11-27 I was looking up some stuff today and came across a thread from couple weeks ago about the nostalgic experiences people have had with maplestory. Reading everyones responses and listening to slime tree music brought a tear to my eye and I felt compelled to share something with you guys. Over the past few months I've been reliving old maplestory experiences and It's been fantastic. I don't want to sound like I'm advertising although it may seem that way because I made this account just to tell you guys about this... But I really do think this is just what people have been looking for. Here is my story. Once upon a time I was 12 years old and it was 2006! My older brother discovered maplestory and showed to me. We played endlessly for well over 5 years and it was great. After my brother graduated from college and left to start a family, I stopped playing maplestory. I had noticed the game going downhill before I had stopped playing though. It was subtle, like the economy and the need to pay money to keep up. But after I left things took a turn for the worst, with the big bang as the point of no return. Some time passed and I as well tried to come back to the new maplestory and was majorly disappointed. Disappointed with the market, the gameplay, and the community. The game and the people I once cherished and loved were gone and that was it. The endless hours me and my brother spent grinding and making a community had disappeared and there was no way of going back. WRONG! In the past I had experimented with private servers and was aware of their existence. But after I saw the state that maplestory was in and the nostalgic feelings that were flooding my mind, I knew I couldn't have been the only one who loathed the new maplestory and who missed the way things were and the common knowledge and experiences that we all shared. So I set out to find a server that ran an earlier version of maplestory with normal rates, over a newer version. I guess i wasn't the only one with the idea because I found it almost instantly with no effort. http://www.classicms.org/?cype=ucp Someone yearned to play old maplestory enough to start a server with a version from 2009, and a community from 2009. I could not have been happier when I found this server. Me and a couple friends started playing and not only am I reliving a nostalgic moment every 5 seconds, I'm also playing a game and making new friends just as I used to. So if you're feeling a little nostalgic then i suggest making an account and downloading the game. It's a game I never thought i would have the chance to play again, with the exception of a few minor bugs with quests and such.
