Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when they didn't have Stewie bring him back to life somehow. I really don't care for the new dog, at all.

Truthfully, not really bothered that much, I kinda hated what they started doing with Brian after a while, he went from the witty classy char to some... annoying arse... dog intellectual version of Lisa Simpson and i got bored of it. Stopped bothering to watch FG after a while, but I'll watch this ep later and see what this new dog is like.

Brain was boring anyway. They've done every story imaginable with him. Even the Brian and Stewie roadtrips were becoming stale. I always found Brian as a character to be fairly unlikeable, and it was intentional to make him look like a massive douche. He wasn't even that funny really, he really only ever echoed the funny things Stewie said, and set up cutaways.

I like that they were ballsy enough to shake the series up (because people HAVE been saying Family Guy is getting worse, which I disagree with). And I actually like the dynamic Vinnie brings to the show as being Stewies protector, rather than Brian who just went along with Stewies schemes. according to the writers, Vinnie doesn't take any of Stewies bullpomegranate, and calls him out on the bad things he does, so it will be interesting to see 2 characters who clearly like each other come into conflict.

I find it ridiculous that people are saying they dislike Vinnie already and that he is nowhere near as good as Brian. He was there for like half an episode, and had a serious part to play in that episode too. I think people should give it a chance, rather than this kneejerk reaction i'm seeing all over the internet of "they killed the show!", and that godawful petition to bring Brian back.

Brian was an author avatar. A self-insert of sorts, if you will.

Good riddance. He needed to go. Too bad they're getting a replacement talking dog.

True, when i saw it happen I was just like, "oh man, this is gonna put a change into the show." sure i was a little upset about Brian's death but if you look at those youtube comments they are acting like its the end of the pineappleing world. God damn the petition already has about 57k supporters

If they were going to be brave enough to shake up the show like that, they should have kept it like that rather than going back to the status quo after only 2 pineappleing episodes. Sure, people will be happy that he is back, but i'm disappointed in them for taking the easy route and using the whole thing as some publicity stunt.

I wouldn't have minded if Vinnie had stuck around until the end of the season and THEN they brought Brian back, but just 2 episodes? what a waste.

In the episode when Brian died Stewie destroyed his time machine, and then Brian got run over by a car. months later they adopted a new dog called Vinnie, who replaced Brian in the opening credits and everything.
Before Stewie destroyed his time machine, one of the last things he did was to travel forward to christmas to get a toy (in a cutaway gag), in the christmas episode, Vinnie takes Stewie to buy a toy as his christmas present to cheer him up because he's sad about Brian not being there, and he sees himself at the toystore, Vinnie distracts the time travelling Stewie and Stewie steals the time machine return pad, he says goodbye to Vinnie (because if Brian doesn't die, they will never adopt him) and he goes back and saves Brian
