Okay, so I'm thinking of making a Bowman, and thought about Horntail. Do they get necklaces eventually and even eggs without HP Wash because they support the party with Buffs such as SE[x]?

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Devil - 2008-12-23

The reason why NL's / BM's / MM's HP wash is to be able to mere survive HT in the first place (Minimum 7900 HP+ with HB). And yeah, you're wanted for SE, that is, if all the other SE buffers can't go for some reason...

Bowmasters + Horntail? - mEanEst - 2008-12-23

I thought of it this way, they want to HP Wash merely to additionally fight (BM + MM).

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Russt - 2008-12-23

A dead BM can't cast SE.

Bowmasters + Horntail? - cooldog67 - 2008-12-23

your damage its 99.9% useless until late 150s if youre godly. youre pretty much a SE mule. so no, you have to wash to get into HT unless youre 180+

You could wear HP Equips so you don't have to HP Wash so much.

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Harrisonized - 2008-12-23

If you only want to survive to loot the pendant, you don't need much HP. If you want to actually fight, then you can hide behind the rocks.

This is a very outdated belief. Before we had HT, we thought it'd be possible to keep taking the rock damage (2k) to avoid being hit. That theory has long been proven false and impossible. Anyone who has HTed before would know even if you sit under the rocks, you still get hit by the magic attacks about half half (rock dmg, attack dmg, rock dmg, etc). Sometimes the rock damage doesn't even come in between two attacks. Regardless, sitting under the rocks is only a last resort chance at survival. If you try surviving under them for an extended period of time, you will die (if you can't take the magic damage).

The more HP gear you have to wear, the less helpful you are. If you have to deck yourself out in several pieces of HP gear, why are you even in HT? Under 16x, Bowman are already not very great in HT. Under 15x and you should not even be there. HT groups already have the good Bowman and rarely need new ones (at least in Bera), especially since new Bowman have to be broken in and get used to how the battle goes.

If you want to HT without HP gear, you need to wash to be able to do so by 16x. It's the only way. Otherwise, you're going to be worthless or have to wait until 17x-18x. Yes, you probably will get your Pendant and Egg if you know some people in HT groups. But unless you get high leveled, it's highly unlikely you'll be needed/helpful to any group.

Anyone who has tried to train at Typhons knows that hugging a rock to avoid taking major damage is impossible.

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Worthyness - 2008-12-23

I can tell you now that if you don't want to HP wash or blood build your archer, you'll have to level up to at least the 17x's before you have the MINIMUM hp required. I'm nowhere near the minimum and i blooded for 10 levels.

Anyways, you probably shouldn't look towards Horntail unless you really know that you can stick with your archer for at least 13x levels. Level the character to at least 50 before you think about higher level bosses.

Bowmasters + Horntail? - DjDisko - 2008-12-25

You need 4.9k base hp to HT on a ranged character.

wrong. 4.7k if you have pendant+egg+zhelm.

actually its 48xx+ for 100% survival. The defense doesn't really help.

have you ever tested how much damage you take with and without zhelm before saying that? the difference is not negligible.

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Cyanne - 2008-12-25

Well, if you believe in buying your pendant, I believe you don't need any hp to get it apart from being able to survive the pq before the fight. You just stay in the cave before the fight until the final arm is left.

I se mule at 13x in HT =[

well, there's a couple NL's I know who have both received 481x and 480x dmg while using top/bot, Ht+1, and helm lol. Pretty much if you never got hit for 48xx damage you're pretty lucky, but those peak numbers could really pineapple you up which is why I said 100% survival...

lol, um your an Pineapple most people who are new to ht don't have a pendant/egg so... 4.9k hp is best to be on the safe side. I know personally I would feel a little safer with more hp then less.

and what about without top/bottom. HT+1 and zhelm?
I'm not questioning the damage itself, i question the difference def makes

Bowmasters + Horntail? - Itay - 2008-12-27

Just to make it simple, I've been an SE mule at ht about 4-5 times, 4790 without zhelm/ht pendent, only hp gear and I never died.
