The common way for a person to play Maple is to either use NX to purchase incentives, or to play FM, exchanging lengthy efforts for mesos, and through MTS, NX. Most I met agree Maple is not farm-friendly, and the vast majority of people I know buy NX. I have met some rare people who are able to play Maple, buy equipment, and pay for pots without expending a lot of money. One method I am aware of is the multi-marriage method, where a person marries his mains and mules (perhaps to each other) and farms apples. Another is to sell hard-to-reach store items, such as summoning rocks, in FM. A third, (mage only and controversial) method is to sell leech.
What are the methods you know, if any, to defeat the spend-till-you-drop system of Maple? How would you farm Maple to avoid feeding Nazison 50k NX per day?

As a proud former unfunded dexless assassin, here are my methods.
Every single quest that gave an item that's worth at least 100k.
LMPQ-wow, that's a lot of money.
Farming Leprechauns-heck, I got a lot of money even though I didn't find steelies.

merchant i guess =O, i merchant since lvl 7x, i start this to buy my zhelm and i was realy active on basil, always buying scrolls and equips and selling in fm without any kind of permit or, hard task i have to say >_<, but i got my zhelm and after that i start doing quests to get scrolls, got lucky with 2x drop events where i get some scrolls and equips to sell, and that is it, i still do the same thing over and over, today i have some nice amount of nx due MTS, and mesos of my lmerchant life +_+, i am not married so no apples... and i am not a mage too, no leech, i just realize i dont need this at all, only leech i "sell" is BF leech for my friends only, where my pay is just 1 apple for bf to make me kill more faster ^^

I've never bought NX Cash.
To "survive" I just... play the game? I don't really do anything special. I kill stuff and sometimes pick-up what it drops. I also don't spend mesos on stupid stuff like FaceStompers and other unnecessary things. I don't need +17 Attack Gloves or a nicely scrolled cape; as long as I have a weapon, I'm good to play. Well, my Marauder doesn't really need a weapon. : \
That's it... just kill, loot, sell and buy (mostly on Basil).

Quite simply... accept that you don't have to have OMGWTPGODLY equipment. You really don't and, in the long run, it doesn't really affect all that much. Then again, that's only if you play for fun as opposed to grinding to be as high level as humanly possible in a short amount of time. If you feel the game is "grinding", then it's probably not the right game for you.
The only NX I've ever used was to get rid of the Hitler hair that the Amoria quest gave me... and those were NX points, not cash. Yeah, I'm poor. Yeah, everyone else levels faster than me because of 2x. To me, that just doesn't matter.

btw, events used to be cool... i remember when i start maple on december of 2007 and xmas events was on, i got that in the end... but i made some mesos selling those presents for 100k each, selling maple tree for 1m ROFL, what for me on lvl 3x used to be a HUGE amount of mesos and make me have mesos until lvl 5x to pay REGULAR equips and pots

The most NX I have bought myself is 10k ($10). I have gotten a good 50k-60k for free through presents or contests.

I occasionally advertise my goods to guildies and friends. Kill bosses for valuable drops. The fact that I'm a Paladin also helps when it comes to training. Oh, and I haven't spent any money on MS, and I have yet to make profit from the free marriage a friend gave me xD
I can't say that I'm doing much better than the wise NX users though. My assets total to roughly 700 mil, not including inherited items and my 5 watk 4 slot FS. (that FS is worth well over a billion, if not over max mesos >_>)

That's essentially it. A lot of people don't pick up monster drops but the money all adds up over time. Basil is also a good way to not buy a shop and get a better price out of your stuff. But it is a bit tedious and not always successful. Eventually you will accumulate enough to get some decent gear. But with all the maple point events buying a 1.5k store isn't that hard.

I farmed Orbis scrolls back when I was still playing. Before the quest jumped requirements to level 30, I had plenty of level 10 mules that made it to level 30 just from doing the quest before the jump. So even after the requirement for that quest changed to 30, it didn't effect my mules.
I had about 3-5 mules, depending on how many times I felt like doing the quest per day. Having ice strike made farming easy. Doing the quest an average of 4 times a day is 20 scrolls a day. Each scroll selling for 100k-120k (depending on the economy) is 2-2.4mil a day. So that's an income of 14-16.8mil a week. It took about 1 hour a week farming for a weeks' worth. 15mil an hour a week isn't bad money eh.
The only NX I ever paid for was pet and store permit.
I also trained on harps... unlike most archmages who stayed there for an hour or so, I actually lived there.

I like to sell summoning rocks to help cover my pot costs. Usually I'll be in the FM all weekend selling rocks, and can sometimes make up to 10 million in a weekend. More than enough to cover my pot costs for a week or two.
Going on solo boss runs helps to make a decent amount of money too. Snowman drops some good scrolls (60% glove atk mainly), and I just found out today that I can solo Crimson Rogs and Headless Horseman. So I'll probably add Crimson Rogs to my regular boss runs, and try to sell HH drops to people looking for Deputy Stars. If I'm in Victoria, I'll go on MM, ZMM, or Jr Rog runs too.

I've been a big fan of boss farming (Manon, Griffey, ZMM, and King Clang mostly) although I generally do it on 2x drop. Half the time though, I find it possible to MTS the cost of the 2x drop cards and have a good amount of profit left over.

Hoarding apples at APQ, sell Summoning Rocks, and sell any other equips/scrolls/whatever at the FM or MTS. It may not seem like much of a profit, but it does add up over time.
I buy NX, but I use it only for clothes, store permits, and safety charms.

Orbis rock scrolls are actually a lot more expensive now. at 120k, people still buy mine in bulk to resell for higher.

zpq was the big one from me. outside of apples (holy crap that makes a lot of money, apq'ing 2x a day), zpq provided literally half my spent money on equips / pots. apples supplied the more recent pots / equips.
zpq: 10 minutes for 1.25m, repeatable infinite times per day. wayyy better money than lmpq, and a ton more interesting. too bad people are just idiots and like repetition...

I remember I went about 90 or something levels making mesos without NX.
I broke even most of the time when training, made a handful of mesos from Guild Quest, and made a bigger handful at Wolf Spiders.
Then I started APQ'ing. (Granted, I was already married, and didn't APQ for a while because I forgot or was lazy or something.)

Then, sell off your stock the day after the patch. If you knew about the quest in Singapore which needed Emeralds, for example, you could have bought up a lot of emeralds and then sold them on patch day to questers for a lot.
